Re: Reversal surgery

The other day I ate too much roughage and it ended up causing some diarrhea-like symptoms - some painful waves and frequency, although it didn’t come out as diarrhea per se. Earlier that day I had been going more frequently than normal, although I’m not sure why since I hadn’t changed anything in my...

Thanks, juliej! I just heard back from my integrative care doctor and he said to take this curcumin supplement twice daily. It seems similar to what you posted. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KI41OL2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=AEO1YSQ570UWR&psc=1 He also recommended 81 mg of enteric-coated...

I am totally the responsible type, and totally get how hard it is to push back! But you have a perfectly good excuse. I started getting used to saying no to things. Once you’re recovered from treatment, you will have plenty of opportunity to say yes to things again. But now you have to do what’s rig...

Re: Is it an ovarian cyst or a potential ovarian met?

I had a pelvic ultrasound done last summer and it found an ovarian cyst but my OB GYN said nothing to worry about. This was after I finished my initial regimen of chemo and radiation. It’s probably a good idea to get the ultrasound just to be sure. I didn’t ask too many questions of my doctor, I jus...

Re: Reversal surgery

I’m pretty pleased that I have been able to eat a variety of foods. The only thing that seems to affect me is anything spicy, which has given me very slight heartburn. Otherwise I have had no diarrhea or adverse effects from eating vegetables, nuts, popcorn, or anything high in fiber. I do have mult...

Re: New Diagnosis/Overwhelmed

Just as a follow up, I saw my surgeon first after my tumor was discovered. I was referred to him by my GI doc. He is a board certified colon and rectal surgeon and has tons of experience with this stuff. He referred me to my oncologist who I liked so I stuck with him. He also referred me to my endos...

Re: Any Stage IV currently in NEDville? Please share any advice or tips? P

Exercise is a fantastic way to reduce risk of recurrence IMHO. Better diet probably is too. I tried to reduce sugar and add fiber, and added Vit D, baby aspirin, coriolus versicolor PSK mushroom, and BCM curcumin. Though I have been slacking off on these supplements for the past few years, I still ...

Re: New Member here on the forum

I had a really hard time during my first cycle and felt really low. I now look back and wonder if I was crashing from steroids. If I had to do it over I would ask about the steroids and whether they could be reduced. I think I assumed it was the chemo and not the steroids, but I could have been wrong.

Re: Chemo opitions

Yes that’s exactly what my onc said. Six months total treatment including neo-adjuvant, with a break for surgery. I ended up doing six rounds of mop-up Xelox.

Re: Reversal surgery

I’m still experiencing abdominal pain and am so ready for it to go away. It’s not as intense as it was before. But I did some singing this morning and it exacerbated the pain. I feel like it will be weeks before it is gone. I know I shouldn’t complain, since it’s not chronic, but it’s hard not to be...

Re: Scanxiety: Anyone else having testing now?

I’m due to have post-chemo blood work done mid-April and then a scan sometime in May. I already have scanxiety - plus I just had a 6 month follow up Pap smear because of an abnormal one last summer. Follow up tests showed nothing, but I’m praying that this latest test shows all normal. If it’s not o...

Re: Reversal surgery

It was nice on Saturday, not so much on Sunday. I got out to do some errands but mostly just stayed inside. Eating is fine and nothing has really bothered me so far. I can tell I go more in the mornings, but I take a Lomotil every morning so the days could look quite different if I didn’t. I haven’t...

Re: Mop up chemo experiences

If you are taking Xeloda pills you may not be able to fast since you have to take them with food. If you switched to the pump then it may be possible. It sounds like all of your side effects are from the Oxi so far. Side effects from Xeloda are mostly gastrointestinal, plus I developed dry, chapped ...

Re: Mop up chemo experiences

I had all the same experiences you had, except my struggle with cold air was a tingling in my throat, not so much trouble with breathing. I didn’t feel like myself and had to spend a lot of time in bed for a few days afterward. Lots of intermittent tingling in my hands and feet even when I wasn’t co...
