Re: Evolution of the term "Cancer Survivor"

I agree with so much posted here.

I don't like the word "survivor" for me; as it makes me feel like a Victim and not a Victor of colon cancer.

I like to say I am cancer free today and I am hoping to continue to be so for many more days! :D

Ashlee: I like your train analogy too. Reading the posts on this site really help me stay in the present moment. It helps to see my very thoughts posted in writing and know I have some company on the journey. Terry, I am praying for you too. Thank you husband for his good advice -- let's just forget...

Mouth Sores - Help for Mucositis from Chemo

Here's a link to the info -- it's probably old news to most of you. http://news.cancerconnect.com/kepivance-effective-in-managing-mucositis-in-patients-undergoing-multiple-cycles-of-chemot...

Re: Battle of the Bowels - Finding what works

Oh yes this is so much fun blogging about POOP! When I was kid Mom would have washed my mouth out with soap for just saying the word POOP! Of course my sisters and brothers and I all laughed and giggled so much about saying POOP! Now look at where we are at now -- focused on our POOP and how to make...

Re: Battle of the Bowels - Finding what works

Ivona: I was just advised by my onc to follow a low residual diet because I have been over doing it with the fiber, nut, fruits and grains. When I was dx with colon cancer the report also showed that I have diverticulitis - but I thought the colon resection had taken care of that problem as well as ...

FYI - in the state of Georgia and several other states.... Non FDA approved drugs can be used only if the drugs or treatments are administered by a licenced practioner. As far as insurance ??? Of course this does not mean you should go out and "try them all on for size" !! As above everyon...

I am so glad to see your post! It really touch my heart as I am right there with you in my thoughts and emotions. I feel the same and the "new normal" is another part of the journey I didn't plan on either. Yes, I feel cut off from some of my neighbors and friends who can not handle the re...

Anger is a good thing - it gives me lots of energy! But, I really had to slow myself down and just take it a day at a time. I have been following you and DH and praying of course for healing. Please take the time to be good to yourself without guilt. Fighting is good but right now you need to focus ...

Re: Folow up: Chemo or Not, My new Plan

I am so glad you decided on the chemo - I went through the same "planning" thoughts as you did. It was not easy because I was not connected with this site at the time. However, my onc is also an active researcher & does clinical trials - so I got the current stats from him and all the ...
