Re: Nervous: Where is My Period?

Thank you both for your responses! I heard that too about Folfox but figured it would have affected me right away... not so delayed. Still no period. I wouldn't be thinking too much of it, since I am almost 47, but after my previous experience -- and having it go back to normal after surgery, I get ...

Re: Worried about colonoscopy next week!

Let us know how the scope goes. Only thing I can tell you is a lot of us on here were pretty asymptomatic. I had anemia but didn't feel much different than I had for years. So, anemia and Stage 3C yet no blood apparent anywhere. (In retrospect, my stools were fairly "black and tarry", thou...

Nervous: Where is My Period?

Hi Guys (Women, mostly), Okay, so the whole reason I was diagnosed when I was (Stage 3C) was because I'd skipped a few periods, after a lifetime of very regular cycles. Both my OB/GYN and regular doc said it was "peri-menopause", but that didn't seem right to me -- neither my older sister ...

Re: Losing the will to live

Oh dear. This isn't a death sentence. Does she realize that? Especially since she was healthy prior to diagnosis. Although I am 30 years younger with two small children to live for, she can get through this and be on the other end of treatment, too! (Sorry -- I don't know much about MSI-high status....

Re: Surgeon has me feeling horrible

I also just want to add another "screw that doctor" to this thread. Had an initial consult with an oncologist who told me I had a 30% chance of being alive in five years. From this forum -- and other stories -- I picked myself up and got a second opinion and then chose yet a third doctor. ...

Re: New Member here needs support !

SUPPORT is here! As others have said, the first couple of weeks after diagnosis are the scariest. I kept feeling like I was caught in an ocean wave and couldn't come up for air. You WILL feel better when you have a plan of action and notebooks to fill, etc. I was in your shoes a year ago. Actually, ...

Re: Today's CT Scan/1 Year from Resection

Yep. Seems there are different theories and protocols for follow-up care, depending on doc and hospital/medical team. I'm thinking I might do an eight-month scan follow-up, so that I'll have 3 in a 2-year period. Compromise between the year and 6-month scans. That way, less radiation, but less time ...

Absolutely heartbreaking.
She was a beautiful writer and beautiful soul.
May her children always remember her, and her husband find moments of beauty and happiness in his life.

Today's CT Scan/1 Year from Resection

Hi All, Just had my CT scan and was given the "all clear" for one year. Boy, what a trying year it's been. My husband and I are cautiously celebrating. Had my resection a year ago. Stage 3C. Kinda gut-punched by the whole thing. Then, 3 months into chemo, had another scan which showed some...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

Thank you, NBrandt, and everyone else on this thread.

As of today's CT scan, I have qualified to comment on here, too!

1 year NED. Woo hoo! (It does count from resection date, right?)

Re: Severe bone pain in lower leg

Also, I am a bit miffed on your behalf that he had his nurse handle your phone call and put off talking with you until Friday. My onc -- very busy doctor at Kaiser, with a young baby at home -- always takes time to talk with me on the phone and never rushes the conversations, either.

Re: Severe bone pain in lower leg

After seeing your other posts and comments, I can see you are really worried about missed metastasis (rightfully so -- and I am so sorry about your mom.) I love and trust my oncologist immensely. When I told him I was having severe, debilitating back pain, he assured me it would be too soon for anyt...

Re: My 35 year old wife got diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer with peritoneal mets

Also, a book just came out called Everything Happens for a Reason and Other Lies I've Loved by a woman named Kate Bowler. She was 35 with a newborn son when she was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. I referenced an opinion article she wrote for the NYT a couple of months back. Heard her on NPR. ...

Re: My 35 year old wife got diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer with peritoneal mets

Oh dear. You poor, poor thing. We have all been there. I was diagnosed Stage 3C one year ago, but in three weeks, I will know if the lung nodule we're watching is indeed a CRC met or not. First off, my vote is NOT Number 1, as she will get through the Folfox (we will help her with side effect manage...
