Re: Positive news- Cancer free two years in

I just wanted to say that I am now 2 years since rectal surgery and i am cancer free. In my scan in May, there were a couple of lung spots under watch (i had a bad cold when i was scanned) but 4 months later the scan is clear. I have a rare genetic mutation which predisposes me to multiple cancers,...

Re: Chemo and CEA question/help.

I am sorry to hear that. I have also heard that chemo may lead to CEA increase. As long as it is within normal range, it may not indicate any growth or mets of cancer. As for the bone pain, I guess it is better to ask your onco and see what are the possible explanations. It can be some side effects...

But according to the onco, if there are lots of them properly can't be operated. I think you should search for second opinion and see if your m...

Re: Rectal case from Hong Kong (UPDATE: Lung Met, NRAS MUTATED, FOLFOX+Avastin)

UPDATE Today I have receive the lab report from the onco, and it saids my mum has NRAS mutation instead of KRAS. I know basically it represents the drugs still cannot be used on her, but I am just hoping if there are any differences between KRAS and NRAS that makes NRAS mutation "better". ...

atments outside HK so we are rely hoping Avastin can remove those spots, even it is difficult. Prayers to you all.

Re: received port

I second the seatbelt issue. Also make sure your bowels keep moving. The anesthesia with the pain pills will slow your bowels down. I didn't poop for 5 days and ended up in the er with acute constipation. Also if you use the lidocaine they give you you won't feel when they stick you. But if you for...

Re: Rectal case from Hong Kong (UPDATE: Lung Met, KRAS MUTATED, PLZ HELP!)

The mutation is important to know because it has immediate clinical impact --treat with a certain drug or not. But it is not really a mutation that usually makes the cancer more aggressive. On the other hand, being KRAS practically exclude her from having other mutation that many times can be more ...

Hi, Mercy In a rush here, so replying your PM in the open forum, in case it helps others --My mum's genetic test shows KRAS mutation. Practically speaking, I know there are certain kinds of targeted drugs are not useful on her right now. With a KRAS mutation, Erbitux and Vectibix can't be used. The...

Re: Rectal case from Hong Kong (UPDATE: Lung Met, KRAS MUTATED, PLZ HELP!)

Also, chemo/radiation adjuvant with surgery can actually cure you with relatively good probability so long as they can resect everything. Immunotherapy offers no cure. At best it makes the disease chronically manageable for a vanishingly small minority of patients. I’d much rather be in a situation...
