Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

9 Years! Today had a colonoscopy. It had been 3 years. All is clear and pink. My surgeon can't even see where anything was resectioned. So good that he doesn't want to see me for 5 years! I turn 65 in a few months. I AM CURED! PS- Bear with me as I make this a new post, as well. I must encourage &q...

Re: CEA during chemo

Mine started at 217 and went up to 219 before chemo started. First check after the start of chemo it is only down to 202. My first PET scan after chemo start is this morning. I'm crossing my fingers that there will be signs of shrinkage or something good. At least the CEA numbers are moving in the ...

Re: Stage I've colon cancer Add Vectibix

For my mind set I keep telling myself that any side effects I have are only temporary. The only side effect I fear is neuropathy as that has the possibility of permanency. Once this cancer's ass is kicked, the side effects will fade away. For myself, these side effects I'm getting are worth the chan...

Re: Introduction

It's hard finding info on colon cancer on the omentum. The Avastin really helped with the ascites. I just pray that it continues to keep it at bay. Anytime I feel a fullness in my belly, I worry that it is coming back.

I wish your mom NED soon!

Re: I'm officially separated

Going through divorce is hard enough when we are healthy. It has to be even harder when you truly need more support during this time.

You both are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you both have supportive and caring people in your life to help you.

Re: Chemo Ports

I don't generally but a gentleman who started chemo the same day as I, had a problem with getting blood from his. He was sent to have some kind of test to see if the chemo would go through the port correctly. Turns out stuff will go in but his body creates a 'flap' (?) at the end of the line that ke...

Thank you!

If...no, make that WHEN I get this cancer kicked, I will be super vigilant in all the follow up stuff that will need to be monitored.

I would love to see a video of that!

We'll be in Michigan so I don't know how much will be visible. Might just catch a sliver.

Kudos to your daughter!

Re: Chemo kicked my ass yesterday

Wow! That must have been VERY scary. I haven't had that kind of sensitivit, yet. Keep a record of your side effects and try to track them. I would definitely tell your onc what happened. If it happens again, or gets worse, they can lower the dosage. I track all my side effects and how long they last...

Re: Introduction

Welcome and thank you for sharing your story. I too had a right colectomy and just started surveillance. I just finished 6 months of Xeloda for stage IIA with the hopes of no recurrence. However, after reading your story, it confirms the importance of staying vigilant with my blood work and scans. ...
