Re: 5 years post LAR

I really need to read posts like this. I was just diagnosed and I don't know much. I see it as a death sentence and I can not stop thinking that I will not see my children grow up. At colonoscopy dr found a mass. Said it's cancer. Had ctscan and it has not spread anywhere. It's just in the left upp...

Re: Advice/opinion please

I didn't do chemo after my resection. Three years later (right now) I'm battling colon cancer again. In hindsight, I would absolutely do chemo after the resection. I may or may not have been battling this now. I think I would have had a better chance of not having this recurrence had I done chemo ba...

Re: MDAnderson is taking patients again

I was responding well to chemo before this. Will this give the cancer a chance to regain strength? My understanding the basic stuff (5FU) will stay in your body for about 7-8 weeks. I believe you will be okay, sometimes there has been delays for many people for many different reasons and everything...

Re: received port

For the seatbelt I used a black large clip (office supply to clip a lot of papers together) and clip the seatbelt to my shirt sleeve. It kept it from sitting on my port. I got the port in June. Just recently I've not been using the clip and have not had problems with any pain. I also don't worry too...

Re: MDAnderson is taking patients again

I get my chemo at a local Hematology and Oncology Center. They've cancelled my appointment for tomorrow. They are closing the place at noon tomorrow so they can prep for Irma. My last appointment was pushed back a week because my grandkids gave me their cold. So antibiotics for a week and I was supp...

I'm done. Finito.

Onc did not try to push further chemo. He's just wanted to walk through everything and make sure I understood that 3 months is technically outside the SOC. Said stopping chemo is a very fair choice all given.

Congratulations!!! Such good news!!

Re: Has anyone heard of this

My insurance sent me a paper saying I was approved for 14 rounds of chemo. I haven't brought it up with my oncologist yet. I really should but keep forgetting.

I'll be sure to ask when I see her next. Might be a while though, 6 weeks.

Re: MDAnderson is taking patients again

Irma is not coming anywhere near Texas. MDA is packed. I mean it's always packed but even more so today. But it us coming for my state. I'm on the east coast and it could be very bad for people even for locals getting chemo like me. The worst of it should be done by the time I need to go again in t...

Re: MDAnderson is taking patients again

And now we have Irma to worry about. I'm fairly sure I can get my chemo on Thursday but Saturday to get the pump off might be iffy. Have to keep an eye on things.

Re: Positive News

Such awesome news!

Mine is shrinking also. Or in the words of my oncologist: They are melting!

I've only had 5 rounds of chemo and the progress is VERY encouraging. I do know how you are feeling right now and I love it! :)

Re: New here -- questions about HAI pump

Is the pump permanent? No, it's not permanent. It's about the size of a hockey puck and made out of titanium. It's really amazing technology. It doesn't require batteries; it uses your own body temperature to release a slow flow of chemo to your liver. The best part is there are no side effects sin...

Re: More chemo?

My meeting with my onc was delayed because Harvey shut the city down this week. Last week my case was presented to "conference" for further input from other doctors at MDA. I do not know the constitution, number or credentials of the colorectal conference participants, only that they pres...
