Re: Oxaliplatin and Combatting Neuropothy

I’m almost 5 months out from my last round of chemo. The neuropathy was at its worst around 2-3 months after my last round. At that point my hands felt so numb that I couldn’t button my shirt, tie my shoes, write or type. My feet were so numb that driving became difficult because I couldn’t tell how...

Re: Enlarged lymph node seen after surgery on CT scan. Not sure what this means. Anyone have any experience with this?

Hmmm, good question. I originally was going to say it could have been enlarged due to the infection you had but then you mentioned metastatic so I don’t have any idea. After my surgery, I had 2 enlarged lymph nodes and my onc said they were just doing what they do as a part of my immune system. We l...

Re: Chemotherapy Journey

No they are shocks (not like electric shocks lol or maybe irritation spikes) Maybe like Gas shocks, hard to explain, the butt hole one is just sensitivity and irritation. Correct it is not normal, that is what I heard from another doctor. I think I must of got some damage from the Radiation Therapy...

Re: Chemotherapy Journey

I’m glad you told your doctor. Blood clots are scary. Just goes to show how important it is to tell your doc all the side effects.

I never had a scab or blister in my nose but I did get bloody noses after almost every treatment.

3 treatments down, you are already half way done! Keep up the fight

Re: How long after colon resection did you feel back to normal?

I’m the exact opposite as most of you. I had diarrhea almost everyday for years before I was diagnosed. I’d go to the doctor just to be told I had IBS. Finally they found that I was anemic and that’s basically how my cancer was discovered. After my surgery, everything went back to normal. I can actu...

Re: Chemo treatment for rectal cancer

First of all, everyone has a different experience and you could very well handle it better. It’s important that you keep track of your side effects and be sure to let your onc know exactly what you experienced and for how long. With that said, here are the side effects I had. For me, the first few r...

Re: Port Removal

no better feeling then getting the port removed. Kinda makes you feel normal again without the big bump on your chest. My surgeon knocked me out for the procedure. Took like 15 min or so.

Re: Neo-Adjuvant Chemo Stage 1 Rectal Cancer?

I wouldn’t be scared of the port. Of course with any surgery there are risks, but getting the port put in was the easiest part of my cancer journey. I was really nervous about getting it too, but I’m glad I got it. Doing labs, chemo, and even ct scans are so easy with a port. I didn’t have any pain ...

Re: Spleen and liver enlargement after Neulasta

After my 11 rounds of folfox, my ct scan showed a slightly enlarged spleen too, but I never had any Neulasta. Seems like this is a side effect of oxi as well.

Keto diet?

Hey guys, So now that I’ve finished chemo, it’s time to focus on being healthy to hopefully prevent a reoccurrence. I’ve started to do some light exercise everyday with the hopes of increasing the intensity once my body isn’t so weak. I also need to change my diet. I came across the keto diet and it...
