Re: Scan Results 15 months post surgery. NDED vs NED?

Hey benben, sounds like a good scan to me! My last scan in April showed I had a small lung nodule with no change from the previous scan. Similar to your situation, it was never mentioned in the notes of any of my previous scans. My onc didn’t even mention it to me either so I guess it’s nothing to w...

Re: Is the day that cheno treatment ...

Days 2 through 4 seemed to be the worst for me. I don’t remember ever feeling bad on a weekend (Monday was infusion and wed was disconnect). Take into consideration what days you will be working. My employer let me take off all of the infusion weeks, so I chose to do Monday as my infusion day. This ...

Re: Better news, Neuropathy & questions

I’m 9 months out from my last chemo. I had 11 rounds of oxi. After I finished, neuropathy was so bad I couldn’t button my shirts, tie my shoes or type on the computer. Now it’s just a slight constant tingle. Sometimes I don’t notice it at all if I’m focusing on something else, but it’s always there....

Re: What should I expect for port placement???

I was knocked out when I had my port inserted and removed. I didn’t use any pain killers and I was fine. I iced it down the first two days or so. The skin in that part of the body doesn’t really move or stretch much so you don’t get much pain from movement. The worst part of the port for me was just...

Re: 5FU pump

I slept on my back when I had the pump. I’d wear it like a satchel and while laying on my back, it would just lay right next to me on the bed. If for some reason I moved around while I was sleeping, it was still strapped to me so it wouldn’t fall off the bed. As for showers, I just skipped them too.

Re: Colon cancer screening at 45 - New guidelines

Definitely a step in the right direction, but needs to be 30 or 35. What would really help is educating the doctors that it’s ok to send someone in their 20’s or 30’s to get a colonoscopy. I’ve read countless stories exactly like mine where we go to the doctor describing our symptoms and the doctor ...

Re: Scanxiety: Anyone else having testing now?

I just finished all the tests for the one year mark, colonoscopy/blood/ct scan and all were clear! I didn’t have scanxiety for this first year, but that was probably due to the fact that I was getting labs every 3 months and scans every 6. Now my onc said I’ll just do labs and scans every six months...

Re: Fainted during prep

This has happened to me both times I’ve done the prep. They both happened at the same time too. I had taken the second does of Miralax around midnight, then went to sleep. I woke up a couple of hours later to go to the bathroom and then the fun started. On my first colonoscopy prep I got really ligh...

Re: Burning pain after reversal

I’m not sure if you have the same thing I did but the “stretching out the stomach” comment stood out to me. I had a pain in my incision after my resection and it always felt let it needed to be stretched out to make it feel better, kinda like a really bad cramp at the incision. I explained that to m...

Are followup colonoscopies counted as preventative?

Hey guys, I have my first post chemo colonoscopy this week and I was curious if it counts as preventative care. I had to pay for a portion of the colonoscopy that diagnosed my cancer and now I’m wondering if I should have had to pay anything at all for that one. Preventative care is supposed to be f...

Re: Oxaliplatin and Combatting Neuropothy

I’m almost 5 months out from my last round of chemo. The neuropathy was at its worst around 2-3 months after my last round. At that point my hands felt so numb that I couldn’t button my shirt, tie my shoes, write or type. My feet were so numb that driving became difficult because I couldn’t tell how...

Re: Enlarged lymph node seen after surgery on CT scan. Not sure what this means. Anyone have any experience with this?

Hmmm, good question. I originally was going to say it could have been enlarged due to the infection you had but then you mentioned metastatic so I don’t have any idea. After my surgery, I had 2 enlarged lymph nodes and my onc said they were just doing what they do as a part of my immune system. We l...
