Re: Prognosis question

Thanks for all the responses. I appreciate them.

On a clinical note, I have come to ththe conclusion that the steroids given with the oxa makes me uncharastically emotional, which is new to me. Guess this is the gift that keeps one giving (/shakes tingling hands)

Re: Newbie to the CC

Did they do a Ct and/or mri at initial dx? I'm in a similar boat but had clear liver/lung scans in march. I have new scans in a month. Drs were not concerned with immediate treatment solely because of the slow growth nature. So this is scary.

Prognosis question

I know there's probably no real answer for this but I'm early on and prognosis is constantly on my mind. I've had multiple biopsies and a flex sig with the cutter. Treated at MD Anderson in Houston. I have been diagnosed based of Ct and MRI as either t2n1m0 or t3n1m0. Surgey is scheduled Aug 2 and I...

Re: what should I expect on the first day of chemo?

Doing good today. Appetite came back so got to eat a little more. I've lost nearly 40 lbs since surgery at the beginning of April so I'm glad to get to eat. I did have a few questions for you guys. when do you guys normally wear a mask? I'll be around a lot of kids this weekend for Mother's Day so ...

Re: what should I expect on the first day of chemo?

I finished round three of FOLFOX last Wednesday and its been a wonderful (/bullshit) ride. Neuropathy peaked at day three but took a full week to resolve. I've generally started feeling better 4-5 days after infusion but the low grade nausea/fatigue fasted a full seven days this time. Just now getti...

Re: 91, Folfox Done, Now What?

I am 40 and through round three and it's hit me haaaaard this last go around. I don't know enough to comment on your situation but FOLFOX can definitely strike and cause severe, prolonged fatigue.

Re: Surgery Scheduled

I don't have any advice or wisdom to offer because I'm a half step back but I will give a friendly chest bump to someone traveling in a similar lifeboat. I'm t3n1m0 rectal seven cm from the verge Dx 3/16/17. Opted for a trial with FOLFOX instead of chemorad. Just finished round 3 of 6 neoadjuvant (F...

Re: Any experience with cannabis oil?

I take in Texas where it's illegal. I also take nutritional supplements like turmeric. Not sure if it will make a difference in the end but there's some science behind it so why not throw the kitchen sink at this monster? No adverse side effects in the literature or experienced myself.

Re: newly diagnosed newbie

I am going for FOLFOX round 3 tomorrow. I hate it but love it because decades of research have shown that sweet, horrible poison is my best chance of ensuring that I'm attending my kids' weddings in fifteen years. Calculus isn't any harder than that for me.

Re: Another new Forum Member.

SOC for me is radiation/surgery/FOLFOX. I'm on a trial that skips radiation, has six rounds of FOLFOX, then surgery then 6-8 rounds FOLFOX. Early yet but all going smoothly. It's Saturday night and I feel great.! But four more days to the next round.

Re: newly diagnosed newbie

For the love of God fool, listen to what the cancer doctors, with tens of thousands of hours of scientific data behind their recommendations, have to say. They will be the ones to save your life if you're interested.

Re: Another new Forum Member.

I can't offer experience but I can sympathize. I was diagnosed 3/26 with rectal cancer. CT and MRI stage it as 3 with one suspicious node. I had a port installed (no big deal even though they call it a surgery) and finished my second round of FOLFOX this week. Surgery set for late summer. FOLFOX eff...

Re: I'm new here

I would demand the colonoscopy. I found my way here a month and a half ago, paranoid after some bleeding. PCP didn't think I needed one. I got one anyway and it was rectal cancer at age 40. You probably do not have cancer. Odds are greatly in your favor. I almost blew it off but and I'm now glad I d...

Re: newly diagnosed newbie

I am stage III because of one LN on the MRI. MDAnderson Houston said standard treatment is chemorad/surgery/chemo, with the hope of killing whatever cancer cells migrated to the node and are looking for a new home. I'm on a trial which is half FOLFOX/surgery/half FOLFOX (Prospect trial) with the hop...

Re: Had my CT scan @ MD Anderson today

How did the scan go?

I spend a good deal of time at MDAnderson. Funny to think I way have seen some of you there.
