Re: Things Not to Say and the Responses I want to Make (Rant)

This is a conspiracy of the carrot industry. BigCarrot wants us to be dependent on their product to turn orange. They don't want you to know the truth. You can turn orange from just a spray tan. I've been on the run from BigCarrot for a long time. I know their thugs will eventually find and silence ...

Re: Things Not to Say and the Responses I want to Make (Rant)

I definitely struck a chord here. Feel free to use any of these. Honestly, I was trying to blow off some steam and thought I was being funny. I'm glad some of you got a chuckle. I've had plenty of folks say things to me that just make me want to roll my eyes, and tell them to join the Flat Earth Soc...

Things Not to Say and the Responses I want to Make (Rant)

Ok, I am terrible. I admit it. But here's my rationalization: I am so tired of those few, but all to real individuals who have never had cancer, have never been a caregiver, and yet somehow know everything there is to know about cancer. Most people are kind and supportive, but to those others, I jus...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Let's hope this is the start of a tidal wave of good news for everyone. DH had a PET scan on Tuesday. The cancer is continuing to retreat under the onslaught of Folfirinox. There was as much, if not more reduction between April and June as there was between February and April. I think we're getting ...

Hi, AnneClare We haven't "met" because I am new to these boards. I have been thinking about you lately. I am not a doctor and have no experience with brain radiation. I have however had benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). It sounds similar to what you are describing, especially wi...

Re: Beansmama Checking in

Oy! Beansmama, we've never conversed, but I think about you often. I am a caregiver, not a patient. I can't imagine that additional level of stress on top of the overwhelming stress of getting through each day with cancer. Here's what I hope and pray and wish for you: 1. Next month you will be NEL (...

"Don't nobody bring me no bad news..." -The Wicked Witch of the West (The Wiz) You are both in my prayers Lena. Hang in there. DH and I got really good news from our scan yesterday. I hope that positive vibe multiplies and includes you and our DH. (More details later, right now, let's focu...

Fingers crossed, toes crossed, nose hairs crossed... sorry, that was gross. I'm saying prayers and anything else that I think might work.

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Hello friends, Lena, yeah, you get it. I'm trying to keep most of my anxieties to myself. I don't want DH to have to talk about cancer constantly. Melissa, all I can say is that it sounds like you've had a crazy week. I think there might be something to the measurement comment. It does seem odd that...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Hello friends, We have our HIPEC consult at Wake Forrest on Friday. I am super nervous and can't really explain why. I really want to hear something like, "Yes, your husband is an excellent candidate for this surgery. We can't promise anything but there is good reason to be hopeful." Any c...

Re: Four months in , scared, confused and overwhelmed about how to proceed

Hello friends, Melissa, I'm glad to hear you are hanging in there. It must be terrifying to think DH will have to miss a treatment. We haven't faced that yet, but I know it's only a matter of time for everyone. I've decided to take Joe to Wake Forrest for another opinion on HIPEC. He's not particula...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Hello Friends, I have some good news to share. DH has had 5 treatments of Folfirinox. We met our oncologist today to go over the results. Tumors are clearly shrinking. He had one large and two small mets on his liver (possibly on the surface.) The two small ones have completely disappeared. The perit...

Re: Four months in , scared, confused and overwhelmed about how to proceed

Folfirinox is pretty hard core, but Joe is tolerating it well. The irinotecan (or "I run to the can," as it is lovingly called) does cause some abdominal discomfort and diarrhea. So far the side effects have been manageable. Our oncologist started this therapy because he did not want to us...
