Re: New and husband just diagnosed

I can't tell you with 100% certainty but I believe it is always operatable. They can remove the entire colon if needed. Be sure to also get a second opinion, especially if you are going to just a local place. Go to a big institute and see the experts there. I am SOOOO glad I took the advice from a g...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Thanks Susie, it sure has, part of why I haven't posted every day anymore, will just give weekly updates. May not have power for a long while soon though so not sure when I'll post again. Updates -- sorry it has been a while. Up and down, but mostly up. Still have a little bit of frequency with bits...

Re: Just told I have a mass in rectum

I was 35 at the time and had almost exactly the same situation. Mine was 5cm as well at the time of diagnosis. My Dr said the same thing... You will have a rough road for a little while, but know there is light at the end of the tunnel. My advice at this point, schedule an appt with a major hospital...

Re: Colon cancer scared!

I would feel fairly relieved that it is likely not colon cancer. You could still have a very small mass technically, but in the clinical trial I am in, they do a high resolution CT scan and that is it. I will have a new colonoscopy eventually but yes, CT scans catch most of it.

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

So Sat was decent until the night, Sunday was pretty good and Monday was my best day ever. Honestly Monday felt like a normal day... I lost track of my log on Sunday and Monday. 8/26/17 3:50am - small bit -p 5:09am - large load -p 5:48am - small amount -p 6:00am - drank Metamucil 7:30am - scrambled ...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

@ozziej --- thank you and I really appreciate your response on that. I actually wondered, because I didn't really feel like I fit the definition of "clustering". I am tall and thin and have always had a very fast metabolism and long before I had cancer, I have gone frequently my entire lif...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 21 . -- decided to start a true log to see how often I am going "clustering" etc. 8 times in one day isn't terrible. Added back to a 1/3 of immodium twice a day, and metimucil before bed. Seems to help a lot. This is my log for those interested. The "-p" is when I go. 8/23/1...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 20- Day started off with frequent urges to go, small, but formed. Later in the day I was good and overall I would say it was a good day.

I tried, per someone's suggestion, doing a smaller amount of metimucil with each meal. That def seemed to work really well!

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

@Basil -- I promise you, there will be times where you will miss it in the early days of hte reversal, lol Day 18 & 19 -- I've had a slight regression, nothing terrible but it has been a little more frequent with smaller poos coming out at times. I had family over for my mom's birthday and made ...

Re: Rectal case from Hong Kong

Mercy, I wish you and your mum the best. I was stage 3C and in remission (one year later) -- I even was only able to complete 3 rounds of chemo due to a reaction to 5-FU that gave me cardiac arrest, so there is hope. Surgery alone can do wonders and with the additional treatments she is getting, the...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Thanks Jeez. Day 17 - Unfortunately Saturday did not go so well for me. Tip of the day: NEVER EAT MCDONALDS! I am not a big fast food guy, but have a weakness from time to time. Had to take my dog in to get something checked out (skin rash) at the vet early. I decided it wasn't a good idea to eat be...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 15 & 16 -- Forgot to post yesterday. My newish pattern of going in the early morning and a lot in the morning seems to be sticking around. Long term, I think that will be more convenienct. Both days have been quite good. I still use a lot of effort to go pretty small amounts. Yesterday was ...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 14 My pattern changed up a bit... had a dr's appt at Cleveland Clinic at 8:45am and it is just over 1.5 hours away. I had to stop twice to go. Usually I don't need to go in the mornings that much. I was slightly late, but they are cool there. Saw the doc, he said everything looks normal and eve...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Good luck to you Justin. When this is all done, it will just feel like a bad dream to you. I am starting to get to the point where it feels like that. Day 13 Was by far the best day yet. I probably went 10-15 times but it was small, almost normal poops. I actually braved going out for lunch with my ...
