Lymph nodes / staging, / post surgery biopsy news

So the dr called today 1 week after my surgery. The got semi clean margins but were close (1mm). They also said 9 of 38 nodes that they removed had tumors. They did not see these on the MRI (or would have done chemo before surgery. This seems like a lot to me based on people's signatures... What sta...

Eating Healthy on a Low Residue Diet?

So I am on a low residue diet (just had rectal surgery and have a temp bag) for the next couple of months. Almost everything that is healthy you can't eat. I went EXTREME healthy once I was diagnosed for the little over a month it was between finding out and having the surgery but haven't been eatin...

Re: 1 week removed from rectal cancer surgery

Still waiting :( Found out the Surgeon was in a conference Monday and Tuesday and had surgeries all day today so might not know until late today or tomorrow, ugh. Really hoping they tell me all clear and I have my second surgery to put everything back together and I am smooth sailing from there. I a...

Re: Does it always turn?

Good luck with your diagnosis. I am in the exact same boat. I was supposed to know the biopsy today but the doctor hasn't called yet and judging by the late day I'm guessing he probably isn't going to. They have been super good, so I can't get too mad (cleveland clinic). I wish I would have discover...

Re: 1 week removed from rectal cancer surgery

Couple of updates on 2) --- I'm still waiting on the doctor from the Cleveland clinic to call me back. The last time it happened I woke up with my pulse racing, kind of thinking back that happened before too. I had a nurse come by the house today and he checked everything, BP heart rate, etc all fin...

Re: Lap resection surgery set for Dec

I had lap a week ago today. Mine was most of my rectum, they originally said their goal was to avoid doing an ilo but because they had to take so much I ended up with a bag for 2-3 months. The day after surgery was surpriginly easy. I was able to get up and walk the hall 3 times. I did it with my wi...

1 week removed from rectal cancer surgery

Hi all, Had a couple of questions for all of you since many of you have gone through this. Last week at the Cleveland clinic I had surgery for my rectal cancer. It appeared I had caught it early so they opted for surgery first whiteout chemo (and praying I won't need chemo). Surgery went well but be...
