CBD and/or Cannabis oil

Just wondering what everyone thinks about using CBD Oil and Cannabis oil for cancer (along with normal cancer treatments)? In theory, CBD oil and Cannabis oil (like Rick Stevens Oil) binds to the CR1 and CR2 receptors in the cancer cell, promoting cell death. Some people swear by it, others aren't s...

Re: What options after chemo no longer effective?

Update: After considering options, I made an appointment at MD Anderson in Houston. UT Southwestern isn't quite as leading edge as MD Anderson, and I think they'll give me the best shot at beating this crap .. or keeping me on the sunny side of the dirt for as long as possible. Downside is that it's...

What options after chemo no longer effective?

Well, nuts. I've been on this cancer roller coaster for 3+ years, and now have found out that my chemo is no longer effective. This time, I had chemo since June '18 (2nd time on chemo). Surgeon declined to do surgery in Jan because he declared me disease free. Now - 3 months later, I have two new tu...

Nausea/Vomiting BEFORE Chemo?

I'm stage 4, wass NED for a year and a half, new met to liver. Currently undergoing 6 rounds of chemo prior to liver surgery. I had over a year of chemo previously (along with resection surgery and liver surgery). I had 10 rounds of Folfox + Avastin, then switched to Folfiri + Avastin. I had no issu...

Re: It's baaaaaaack!

My oncological surgeon's office called me today. They're going to do 4-6 rounds of chemo, then surgery, then more chemo after that. For my last liver met, they did it via robotic surgery and I was home in 2 days. This time, they'll take about 1/3rd of my liver. He said he will actually remove my liv...

Re: It's baaaaaaack!

I met with my surgeon today. There are two ways to go with this .. chemo, surgery, then more chemo. Or surgery up front, and chemo. He prefers the chemo, <month break> surgery <continue break for recovery>, resume chemo route. The Tumor Board will meet next Wednesday and come to a decision. Whicheve...

Re: Surgeon has me feeling horrible

Doctors. Sometimes they're so smart that they're stupid. In my case, stage 4 with 4 liver mets. I want on chemo, Two mets disappeared, two shrunk. Had livery surgery. Pathology on the removed part of the liver showed no active cells, only necrotic tissue. Don't let a surgeon tell you anything. Get t...

It's baaaaaaack!

Had a follow-up MRI and CT scan this past Monday. Since I am stage 4, they scan me every six months - my last scan was in November. After a year and a half of being NED, a new tumor has appeared on my liver. It's in the same location as one of my two previous liver tumors was removed. They did a wed...

Re: Why would my Oncologist say Surgery is no longer an option

I don't know the circumstances, but in my opinion the surgery call should be made by a surgical oncologist, not a medical oncologist. Medical oncologists love their potions, elixirs, and snake oil. Mine grudgingly allows surgery, but does not like radiation. My two cents.

Anothe milestone reached in my journey

Today I had my chemo port removed. That's one more step toward getting back to where I was before my life was upended by cancer. I finished my chemo treatment in June. During my first appointment after chemo, my oncologist asked when I wanted to remove my port. Being cautious, I wanted to wait for a...

Re: oxaliplatin side effects - 9 years after treatment

I often read, but don't respond often to posts lately. I'm no longer under treatment, but I do like to keep up with what's being said on here. I'm responding to this one, because it's a subject that's near and dear to my heart - this blasted neuropathy that was caused by Oxaliplatin. I received 10 r...

Re: Anyone with Stage IVa just do Xelolda or 5-fu?

I had 10 rounds of Folfox + Avastin until the side-effects of Oxaliplatin were too much. I then had two rounds w/o Oxaliplatin (plus Avastin) and two rounds of Folfiri + Avastin. Then I had surgery to remove the two liver tumors. The pathology showed the liver tumors were dead and all surrounding ti...

Where I am now

It's been quite a road over the past year and a half. Stage 4 cancer w/two spot in the liver. Colon resection, FOLFOX for two rounds, added Avastin for rounds 3 and above. After 10 rounds of Folfox, we had to drop Oxaliplatin because of neuropathy. Two rounds of Folfox w/o Oxaliplatin, then two roun...

Re: Irinotecan experiences?

I had significant diarrhea with Folfox + Avastin, and even more with Foilfiri + Avastin. The Avastin and Irinotecan combined to give me massive, watery diarrhea - sometimes 10 times per day. My oncologist put me on Tincture of Opium. That stuff works and works very well. It's a tincture, so there is...
