Hi - I don't come here much anymore but did see your post. It is possible to get surgery in another province! We live in Ontario and did try for surgery in Alberta (the Ontario surgeon denied my DH). Unfortunately, Alberta denied us as well (saying surgery too risky). However he did did get surgery ...
I'm just seeing this post now. Thank you so much for sharing your story. It gives me hope! My husband is stage IV, had Hipec, and a small recurrence 9months after. So glad to know that several more years is a real possibility sometimes! It will be 4 years since diagnosis for him at the end of this y...
You can see my signature below. Dh had Hipec Oct 2016. He's young and recovered well from surgery. High pci (20) but we were told they removed it all. No chemo after. Recurrence 9months later. Just one small spot he's been getting chemo for (on and off) and it's stayed stable this whole time. He may...
I've done some research into this and utwo is correct. Sperm regenerates - roughly every three months. The studies available currently show no added risk of babies with deformities after waiting two years from chemo. The info I was told ( from a fertility clinic doc) is that likely you are safe soon...
If you are in Ontario wanting to be assessed for the HAI pump one of the hospitals in Toronto does them. Sunnybrook I think. I'm sure there must be others across Canada too.
Just wanted to chime in. DH was told to do 5 days of radiation prior to surgery to remove a pelvic spot. He did it last week. Not many symptoms at all since then. Some tiredness the following week and that's been it so far!
Hi - not sure where you are in Canada. We are in Ontario. We've had second opinions. It's possible. The Oncologist was the one who assisted with getting seconds opinions on surgery. We were told no to surgery from Toronto ( and it was the only center in our province that did the surgery). We then go...
Hi crikklekay - try not to freak out. Just take it one step at a time. In the beginning I went to almost all DH's appointments mainly so I could get an army load of questions answered. I literally would take a piece of paper with a list of several questions. Every few weeks I would have new question...
Hi - DH has had chron's since he was a child and diarrhea was more his issue. Constantly running to a toilet. He has had his entire colon removed now. He is much happier this way. The bag is manageable for him and he is able to gain weight again. He was 30 when he had the surgery. Oddly enough we we...
You are not alone. It happens to me too. DH was diagnosed stage IV 2.5 years ago. In some respects I'm lucky because he stills functions quite well...but some days I'm fine and others a switch flips and I'm not and I'm crying about all that isn't fair. I find it usually happens most when I'm alone a...
I'm impressed by how well you seem to be handling everything planning wise and how much you have already accomplished. You've already made some things easier on your family. All I can really offer you is my thoughts as a caregiver (DH has stage 4 cancer) and what I would appreciate when it is my tim...
I agree with all miss molly's comments about the port. My DH has had both a picc line and now a port. Although the picc line is easy to remove when chemo is over it was overall more annoying. It's has to be covered all the time when you shower and he was told no heavy lifting while it was in. It als...
Thanks for the link CRGuy. It is similar information to what we received. Plastikos- Yes we are doing it in conjunction with standard treatment. He's had 2 sessions of it so far with no negative side effects. Another CT in about 8 weeks to see if it helped. I'll post the results in case anyone is in...
