Re: How long after colon resection did you feel back to normal?

It's funny I remember whilst in hospital after the resection a doctor saying things (bms) won't ever be as they were before but she was wrong. I'm actually having better bms now than before resection and don't experience things like urgency or anything else untoward. It's hard to say how long it too...

Re: Port Removal -- ASAP or wait for first scan?

Hello fellow IIIC I wanted to keep my port in for at least a year or two after chemo, but my Onc was insistent on it coming out and there was no arguing with her. My post chemo scan also showed two spots (one lung, one liver) whereas my pre chemo scan was clear of any spots. She wasn't concerned abo...

Re: Question about ground glass opicity and update on CT

Great news about VATS!

To answer your question, I had a 3mm ill-defined ground glass nodule show up on one scan and disappear the next.

Re: Long tern stage 3 NED, any scares along the way

My first post chemo scan Oct 2016 showed a 3mm ill-defined ground glass nodule in my right lower lobe and a 1mm hypodense lesion in my liver. My latest scan Mar 2017 shows no lung nodules and the 1mm liver lesion is unchanged. So it goes to show spots can come and go as they please just to mess with...

Re: Chemo delayed

Yes I had multiple delays throughout treatment due to low neutrophils . 7th cycle delayed for a week, then 8th cycle delayed by two weeks with a 20% dose reduction going forward. I didn't have the option of boosting my counts with neupogen etc as in Australia its not covered by the PBS (I think its ...

Re: How bad would it be to quit oxaliplatin?

Personally i'm a believer in trying my very best, to give it my best shot the first time with no regrets, so I would only quit oxi if I really had no other choice. But thats me, theres no right or wrong to it. If your current dose is too much perhaps try a dose reduction first before giving up on th...

Re: Neuropathy question

My neuropathy started after my last chemo treatment and is now constant - I thought I was lucky and escaped unscathed! It started off with a weird shiver/pins and needles down my lower calves to my feet multiple times a day which has now ceased but then I noticed my feet were numb and it has never l...

Re: How soon after finishing chemo was your first PET scan?

I've never had a PET scan. My post chemo baseline CT scan showed two spots, one on the liver and one on the lungs which were too small to characterise. My Onc said she was 99% sure it wasn't cancer but maybe they just say that so the patient doesn't worry :? and said my next scan would be in 12 mont...

Re: Another Newbie here - Stage IIIC questions on treatment

It's very common to miss periods when going through folfox, the chemo can lead to infertility and also cause early menopause which is why people often freeze their eggs if they are planning to have a family in the future. I missed about half of mine when I was going through treatment, I raised it wi...

Re: Aspirin Study starting

My Onc mentioned this study but i think I was too late to join...which I believe is a good thing (albeit selfishly) for me as i'd rather take aspirin than a placebo I was also told via a "you didn't hear this from me" that I should take it if I wanted to try everything possible to prevent ...

Is this neuropathy?

I forgot to mention this to my Onc at our last meeting and was wondering if any of you guys have experienced this? I've been getting this weird sensation, it sort of feels like a sudden rush of blood (or possibly a tingly sensation) starting from the top of my ankles/bottom of calfs running down to ...

Re: Any recommendations on prevention diet?

This is what I intend on doing very shortly since I just had my last FOLFOX cycle...

*Eat more fruit and veggies (hello nutribullet), whilst lessening my meat intake
*Take a low dose aspirin everyday
*Take Vitamin D supplements
*Exercise, exercise, exercise
