Re: Subtotal or Hemi...don’t know how to decide

I have serious issues with diarrhea. Even though my tumor was very close to the verge and I was prepared for a permanent bag, during surgery the surgeon tried to do me a favor by making it temporary. When I was put back together, diarreah issues started. I went from 150 to 103 pounds this last round...

Re: Good news on lung met

I think you probably will heal faster with no chemo. With me they could not wait to install a port and start chemo. Knowing what I know know I think it would have been better for my personal plans if I put it off 2 weeks. So, very excellent news that you are moving forward with no chemo. Congratualt...

Re: Stage 4 to NED- Please tell us

Mine progressed to Stage 4 with a lung met. I never did let them do a biopsy. I scheduled the VAT surgery and told them to biopsy it once they got it out. Yup, it was rectal cancer in my lung. So, then 12 rounds of Folfox. My July PET was clear. I stopped chemo 6 months ago and have another PET on M...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I did 12 rounds of Folfox. I was bald at Christmas and now have thick (but short) hair. My last chemo was in April. My biggest issue was the runs. So, I am 5'8" tall and down to 103 pounds, but finally, at almost 6 months out, I too am having more control! Having said that, I still get a monthl...

Re: DH Scan is November

I finished chemo in April. Had a questionable CT scan in June, so DR ordered a PET. My PET was clear, but she still ordered another PET in 3 months, just to be sure. So, I have another PET scan next week. If that one is clear, then my next scan will be in 6 months. I wonder if the American Cancer So...

Re: what happens after chemo?

I am on a scan schedule. But I also see a nutritionist every month. I am 5'8 and down to 103 this week, grrr.I also see an oncologist councillor. Plus my hospital has free strength training, group therapy. It is 2x a week and I am pretty sure it is 2 months. So, I do not feel like I have been droppe...

Re: Cancer Again: Not Colon?

Sorry to hear your news. I would think the best method of attack is to wait until all the biopsies are confirmed, then you know what you are dealing with! I hope you are feeling better without the pressure of the brain tumors now.

Re: [Update: Lung met confirmed] PET scan not good :(. Anybody's surgeon was able to find a 8mm lung nodule via VATS?

I had mine out at Mass General via VATS. Then I did 12 rounds of Folfox. PET in July was clear. I have another PET in October.

I wanted it out! Some Dr's like to keep it in, experiment with different chemos and do more scans. Not for me, I was adamant to have it taken out first. I am glad I did.

Re: Problems post-colonoscopy

Talk with your DR. Drink Gatoraid. One thing I found that has helped me with extreme diareah issues in 6 smaller meals/snacks throughout the day. Small portions! No raw vegetables or fruits (banana is ok though). Tea settled my stomach. And lying down after eating sometimes helps too. Buy the Depend...

Re: Update from Rikimaroo

I had a questionable CAT in July. DR ordered a PET in July...it did not light up! Interestingly enough, the PET shows where I get my monthly Sandostatin shot. Then the DR ordered another PET in October...just to be sure. AND said for me to keep my port for a year. Talk about worrisome actions. Octob...

Re: Triggers

Congrats on NED. I am sorry about your extreme neuropathy. My DR constantly asked me about mine. I am a knitter. I knit all through chemo. When I could no longer hold small sock needles, I started knitting chunky scarfs with large needles (11-13). I really think that the finger gymnastics of knittin...

Folfox does seem like forever during treatment. But hearing NED makes up for it. Congratulations!
