Re: Adenocarcinoma mid-rectum with with signet-ring component, grade 3

It's my husband. He has started home hospice. The doctor thinks he has just days to weeks left. For his sake, I hope it is just days. He is suffering.

hospice

My dear T started home hospice on Monday. The oncologist thinks he has days to weeks. He is suffering, so sadly I hope he's right.

Make sure she sees an oncologist with experience with signet ring cell, as it is especially aggressive and many doctors are clueless about its nature.

Re: Any Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis people out there?

My husband's GI told him for almost 20 years that he was at greater risk for colon cancer and he recommended a colectomy and j-pouch after 10 years. He was getting colonoscopies every 3 years when rectal cancer was found.

Re: any peeps with BRAF mutation on here?

Dear one, I can’t imagine what you’re going through right now. I know it is so hard thinking about losing a life partner, and it must be even harder with children. My heart hurts for you but there is still hope and time if they are treating him. Your hubby sounds like a very strong man. The treatme...

Re: any peeps with BRAF mutation on here?

Mrs. Ziggy - I just read this whole thread. My fear is that my husband is just a few months behind Mr. Ziggy. He just had the ureteral stents put in a week ago. He has small pleural effusion, and now bone mets. They had him start FOLFIRI+Avastin on Wednesday after FOLFIRI+Erbitux failed. He's in a l...

Signet Ring Cell - new thread

There are a few with signet ring cell here, and I thought we could have a place for this doozy. The search tool has been very helpful for information, but it has mostly been from people who have passed away and their caregivers. My signature shows the summary of my husband's journey so far. I know s...

Re: Any Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis people out there?

Yes, there is a link. My husband had UC for almost 20 years. His GI suggested colon removal for the last 10 years because his chances of cancer were increased, and for quality of life.

Re: Signet ring cell with mucoid

How often was your husband getting his scan/pet and colonoscopy? I am very sorry that his cancer returned :( I’ve spoken with 2 oncologists and one agreed with me that follow up should be done every 3 months for the first year. And maybe every 4 months for the second year. And after every 6 months....

Re: Signet ring cell with mucoid

My husband has SRC and it IMO it was not monitored closely enough. It's wonderful that his team is vigilant. I see that you joined the small SRC support group on FB. There are success stories there of people pre-stage 4.

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

I updated my sig with the newest info. After 3 months of FOLFIRI + Erbitux (not fun), his CT yesterday showed growth and spread as well as mets to spine and pelvic bone. He's switching to FOLFIRI + Avastin. We were so surprised because his pain went away. His kidney is backed up because of tumor pre...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

I've been reading your stories and I thought I'd introduce myself. My DH is 43 and has had a recurrence. Rectal ca now metastatic. He just started this week on FOLFIRI and will begin Erbitux on Monday. Onc and surgeon agree that he is inoperable at this time. Mets are too numerous and connected to a...
