Re: GOOD NEWS ON BEANSMAMA

I am doing well, just relaxing and letting myself heal for the most part. I have ventured out for a few doctor's appointments and a couple of trips to the store. I am usually pretty wiped out after that and spend the next day resting - lots of napping involved. I hope everyone else is doing well. I...

Re: My small "cancer's death" anniversary

2 years ago my MSKCC oncologist came to me with my pathology report and told me that my cancer was dead (I had 10+ liver tumors). My CEA went down below 2 in October 2015 from 140 in mid August that year at the beginning of chemotherapy. I achieved NED in May 2016 and yesterday I got another clear ...

Re: GOOD NEWS ON BEANSMAMA

Enormously positive update on BeansMama - she is over the worst and doing okay! :) She still may need to do some rehab, but she is past the worst, and is eager to get home. Larry has been evicted, and our girl has made it through surgery. I suspect we'll see her poke her head in here before too much...

Re: What did you tell the kids?

Thank you all for sharing your experiences and advice. We also were advised to be open, honest and age appropriate. It's this last one that I tread carefully with. My 6 year old is very verbal and picks up on a lot. She is also a bit of a worrywart and takes quick dives to worst case scenarios. Eve...

*** LATEST UPDATE AS OF 10/17/17 *** Just got the latest news on BeansMama - she's eating now (hooray!) drinking thickened fluids, a little loopy and back to cussing up a storm. :D She still has a bit of a low-grade fever, and appears to have some bile leakage somewhere. I'm unsure what this means i...

Re: Mom's surgery is in two days!

Sorry to hear your mom is going through so much, but glad to hear she has you to be there to support her. Every surgery is different - some people have more pain than others. It depends on a lot of things, like where the surgery is, how well it goes, etc. For me personally, having laparoscopic went ...

Re: GOOD NEWS ON BEANSMAMA

***NEW UPDATE - 10/16/17*** Morning everyone. I got an update late last night on how our BeansMama is doing. Here's the info from the text: "She's had a fever and some trouble with pneumonia. They had to put the breathing tube back in for a bit, but her liver functions continue to improve and t...

Re: What did you tell the kids?

I suspect this is a topic/thread that others have discussed before; please send me a link if you know of one. My daughters are 6 and 2 years old. My older daughter was 5 when I got the diagnosis. I'm about to start cycle 4 of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (Xeloda monotherapy). We had informal consults w...

Re: New to Board

Really nicely written. .. HI BeansMama, I hear you. Boy do I hear you! My sweetie got the Stage IV Dx September 2014. There' so much more I could say, but I'll focus on this. The day we got the diagnosis, the thought flashed through my head: "There's a guy somewhere who was the last guy diagno...

Re: The Wait

Hello everyone, I first joined the colon club family in Spring of 2016 and although I do not post often, I do visit nearly every day, several times a day, to read the information and advice you all share. Thank you for sharing and for putting into words so many thoughts and feelings that I struggle...

***UPDATE ON BEANSMAMA - Monday 10/9/17 at 12:15PM Eastern Time*** They've removed the breathing tube, and our BeansMama woke up feisty. :) This is good. She's fighting. I'm told she woke up "swearing up a storm and asking for A&W Root Beer." :D The doctors are saying she's not out of ...
