Re: I need a little hope

I am hopeful that one day a liver resection will be possible but was very discouraged by the local doctor that performed my biopsy. He basically said there was no point in surgery on the colon tumor or liver. SO glad you are getting another opinion. If you want to check out what hope is like where ...

Re: This could be LONG ... very long !

Sorry to hear it! That kind of fall is rough, especially with tough, independent patients. <:- )
Sending some Harmony-minded prayers her way, and yours too.

Hugs,

Preach it, sister! :)
I feel the same way. Tell me I can't, see what happens. LOL

Here's to the next 11 years, and all the ones after that. Cheers.

Re: Had PET scan this morning

As others have noted, I don't have the experience or knowledge that Lee and Karen do, but I wanted to let you know that my heart goes out to you. This wretched disease steals our humanity in so many ways. I hope you are able to get some good news and some relief, and I'll keep you in my thoughts and...

Re: Today is my last day of Chemo!

It has been a long six months, but in 2 hours I will take my last dose of Xeloda. :D :D :D I am now thinking about all the CT scans and bloodwork, especially CEA numbers. Scanxiety is now setting in.....but this forum will help me through it! Ct scans every 6 months and bloodwork every 3 months. My...

Re: Surgery is over

Surgery went well. In addition to the LAR and ileostomy, my surgeon also felt that my ovaries needed to be removed. I've already been for a walk, with plans for another later tonight. My mom and husband just left, so I'm goin to try to get some rest. So glad things went well for you, and that you w...

Beans, When I first joined this group, it was something that you said that changed my perspective and gave me the point of view that has kept me going ever since. As I watched you on your journey, I think that I - like many others here - hoped and prayed for you to get some good news and find some r...

Re: Went to see the surgeon today

Larry is getting smaller which is amazing, they are waiting for maximum response before they go in. If Larry gets small enough I may not have to have the Super duper surgery they are planning on, I may be able to have a standard resection. Which of course has a lot less risk involved. This is HANDS...

Re: Brain mets . . . and they're aggressive

AnnClare: I was so angry to read some of the sucky stuff you had to go through, but as always I love the people on this site for the love, support and endlessly fantastic information that they have to share. I feel I was *extremely* fortunate to have a surgeon who very early on in my journey told me...

Re: Capox (Xelox) as Adjuvant for RC stage 3b

Thanks Tracy, I talked about this with her oncologist already and she mentioned that as there's lymphovascular and perineural invasion in the pathology report, the risk of recurrence is higher, thus the oxi is necessary. It's her first infusion and so far so good. Did you have LVI too? My mum toler...

Re: Another Newbie

My DR is board certified, 17 yrs experience, and specializes in colon surgeries, but not sure if he specifically certified for colon, is there a separate certification for that? Yes, absolutely there is. There are some awesome surgeons out there, but a board certified colo-rectal surgeon does only ...

Re: Newly diagnosed mom

Hi Jesa. I see Lee is providing you with great info already, and I agree - let your onc know. Don't just suffer through it. And may I add how much I *hate* seeing that you were only 32 at diagnosis? Ugh. Wretched disease. I was 46 at diagnosis, and mom of a just about to turn 5-year-old (who is now ...
