This is very sad news. Karen, know that you have been a big help emotionally and intellectually. My heart goes out to you.

Re: 5FU infusions

I am clumsy and afraid the tube connecting the Rx to my port would get pulled. I sewed a pocket inside a couple shirts. The infusion bulb and tube were both safely inside my shirt.

Re: Quality of life on Folfox and others

I found that wearing gloves almost 24/7 was helpful. The cheap stretchy type worked well for everything except my phone. I had 6 pairs to cycle thru the wash. I drank warm water during my nine months of treatment and one month after. I am 2 years out from last treatment and find the residual neuropa...

Re: Just finished treatment

I was also diagnosed with Barrett’s Esophagus and was advised that does not mean automatically advancing to cancer. However considering my luck with cancer, I get annual endoscopy to monitor status.

Re: cecum removal appendix too?

 I hope you continue to fight on to get this straightened out. I had a similar situation where my colonoscopy report came back stating that my uterus was healthy. I had a hysterectomy 2 years prior. And how magical my colon is that they could see a missing organ...that is not located in the co...

Re: Diet after colorectal surgery

I also take acidophilus probiotic tables daily and my digestive system seems to be happy. I also eat smaller meals otherwise I am uncomfortable (in many ways). It took my body about 9 months to feel somewhat normal; maybe from healing and maybe because I adjusted my intake quanitity.....and maybe pr...

Re: My body is high maintenance

Same here, my body is high maintenance AND diabolical. I'm never sure what changes are in store from one day to the next. One day certain foods cause havoc & a couple days later same food is fine. Nose bleeds at inconvenient times. Difficulty walking due to neuropathy...next day I can walk but i...

Re: Post op hemicolonectomy

I experienced the same pain after my right hemicolectomy (Oct 2015). After a trip to emergency room (Apr 2016) that included CT scan, X-ray, and blood work it was determined that I had an infection. After a week of antibiotics I was feeling better. I was also advised that healing takes longer when o...

Re: One big "crap" shoot?

I have Barrett's Esophagus, a precancerous condition in addition to colon cancer. Last upper GI (9/1/2016) added irritations in stomach. I take famotidine for Barrett's and wait & see for stomach...Onc believes chemo caused "temp" irritations in stomach. I'm watchful about Rx's...I hav...

I have Barrett's Esophagus in addition to colon cancer. I'm sure eventually this too will morph into cancer and your info will be much needed. Thanks & hope this treatment continues to benefit you.
