Re: Brain Mets

Thanks for all the info MissMolly. We will definitely research some more and have more information going forward with appointments with the radiation oncologist.

Re: Brain Mets

The radiation seemed to help. I was able to see almost back to normal . . Unfortunately I had a reaction to the withdrawal of the dexmethasone steroid which made me sick . . I’m back to a full dosage of it for the past weekend and this week for a few days before we start a slower withdrawal . . hop...

Re: Brain Mets

The radiation seemed to help. I was able to see almost normally the past couple weeks although my balance was still off a bit but was better. The mradiation oncologist said this would improve over the next week or so. Unfortunately I had a reaction to the withdrawal of the dexmethasone steroid which...

Re: Pump people recurrence question

Unfortunately it sounds like there are really only a couple options. Get Dr. K to implant the pump as part of her trial and hope it works on the liver Mets, which it appears to do for other people, and have the hassle of the maintenance of the pump after treatment, while hoping someone closer to hom...

Re: Stopping Folfox early?!

I would do whatever the oncologists recommend you do. I also have FAP, the only one in my family so it is a muatation that caused it during birth. I didn’t find out until I was 35 years old and had my colon and recum removed. I was diagnosed at Stage 3B and did 12 rounds of Folfox. After that they f...

Re: Pump people recurrence question

Even if you do have to keep the pump, for 2 or up to 5 years, that doesn’t mean down the road 6 months, a year, 18 months, etc that there won’t be other hospitals servicing the pumps that are closer to your location. In the meantime itmsucks but it sounds like you don’t have much of a choice. Nothing...

Re: When msk isnt within reach

I live in Canada. I’ve been lucky to have my employer send me to the US to visit a cancer center for a second opinion. I haven’t been to MsK but I have been to Mass General twice, once at the beginning when I was stage 3B and again when I went to Stage 4. If I recalle correctly it was between $1000-...

Re: 5FU infusions

I received 5FU via my port for all my folfox and folfiri infusions, a total of over 60 I figure over the years. The pump I used was silent and it just taped to my skin to allow body heat to adminster the correct dosage. The pump was kind of a hassle for the 2 days but it wasn’t that bad and didn’t a...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Mike, if you have short term disability available to you now might be the time to take some time off to rest your body and let it heal. It would give you some time off if you needed surgery, etc to fix the obstruction too. Just something to think about. If you pay into it or your company does it is ...

Re: Brain Mets

Thanks for all the well wishes and possible go forward options. Having seen 2 oncologists at my local hospital and also consulting with a larger cancer center it looks like any for, of chemo is off the table now and radiation is the only option. At least for my brain tumors. We are making the best o...

Brain Mets

It’s been a while since I posted on here but I have been lurking most days. I’ve been sick since before Christmas and we found out on Christmas Eve via CT scan of my head that I had at least 2 brain Mets in my cerebellum that have been causing my sleepiness, nausea, not drinking any fluids, dizzines...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I added Mountain Climbers and Brazilian Crunches today. I couldn't do a lot of them and I was reminded as to how much stress some of these exercises put on your body. But I did a few and I'll do a few for a while and then a few more until they get easy. I'm pushing myself harder on the stuff that I...

Re: FOLFOX failed

I failed folfox back in early 2015 after 12 rounds. My stage 3 colon cancer spread to 1 paraortic lymph node and 2 lung mets. I started folfiri and did that for 2.5 years until it failed and the lung Mets grew and spread. I’m not doing any chemo right now and saw a radiation oncologist last week to ...

Re: Did you travel during treatment?

My husband and I are new to all of this. He will probably be starting FOLFOX the week after Thanksgiving- will see oncologist Tuesday for a solid plan. When you all say "my good week" where does that fall in the treatment schedule? It looks like he will get hooked up on Fridays and I will...
