Re: Blood clots and low oxygen and hospice OH MY

Sending love and light to you and your family. In times like this, a certain level of strength seems to come out of nowhere.

Re: what is chemo for life?

My husband was on chemo for life and it was basically a lower dose chemo every two weeks with very few side effects. He was on Avastin with a low dose of 5FU for about 2 years.

Re: If you want prayer stop in here!

Good evening, I'm stopping in for prayer. I am grieving the loss of my husband and there are moments where it seems like my grief will swallow me whole. Please pray that God continues to comfort us. Thanks!

Re: If you want prayer stop in here!

Hello, I would like to request prayer. Ever since my husband passed away, I have been struggling in so many ways. For those who pray, please pray for me, our 4 daughters, and the will to continue on despite this life being so different.

Re: Stage IV parents with young child(ren)

When my husband was going through treatment (he was on chemo for the rest of his life), we made it a point to still have fun as a family. Our girls were 9, 8, 7 and we had our youngest the year he was diagnosed. When he was tired, we sang karaoke and jammed out at the house. When he was on maintenan...

Re: Folfiri after Folfox fails

My husband had shrinkage in the tumor in his liver with FOLFOX but after a scan, the oncologist realized that while the liver was responding, two lymph nodes in his chest had actually grown. He was switched to FOLFIRI and his liver tumors disappeared. His lymph nodes no longer lit up on scan and so ...

Re: Please help! Husband relapsed with ascites and will start Erbitux and irenotican

My husband had ascites prior to trying Folfiri again with Avastin. It seemed like he was better for a few days, with reduction in lymphedema and ascites. However, it was only temporary as he declined pretty rapidly after starting folfiri. He had quite a bit of anxiety so Ativan was our friend during...

My Heart Is Gone

I knew it was towards the end. I knew that he would not be here much longer and in knowing that, so many of our interactions were so meaningful. For two days, my husband went between lucidity and being cloudy headed. He was brutally honest in telling people to get out of his face and to stop fussing...

Re: How did you know it was the end?

Thank you all for your responses. I have found peace that my husband has fought for so long and right now, it is his time to rest. He has given our kids and I so many memories in our almost 15 year marriage. We have survived a deployment together to Afghanistan ( leaving our children with my parents...

How did you know it was the end?

My DH said it so simply, "So, we are here." The mets in his liver are growing, despite one round of chemo, he has ascites and is very confused. His bilirubin is through the roof and after a lengthy conversation, he said he wanted to just go home and do hospice. My question for any caregive...

Re: Looking For Help With A Study

Hello, my husband was medically retired from the Army and they service connected it simply because, 1: He did not have any real family history; 2: He was deployed twice, both times with exposure to smoke pits. His case was thoroughly gone through as it took them a year and a half to medically retire...

Re: Cancerversary

I'm with you on this bring the crappy year. The last Christmas that we experienced rough chemo and husband's fatigue was back in 2015. Trying to keep the holiday cheer but it is hard when my husband isn't doing well.

Re: FOLFOX failed

My husband was diagnosed at 31 as well, so sorry for what you are going through. My husband was initially treated with just 5FU and a short month after finishing chemo, a spot on his liver lit up. His second line of chemo was FOLFOX and while it worked to get rid of his liver Mets completely, he had...
