Re: Lynch test in USA, Miami?

You won't need a sub total even if you have LS. As long as you stick to regular screening your chances of another cancer are on par with the general population. I don't know why they still insist on this outdated practice. Take my advice and Google around for more information and take a 2nd opinion ...

Re: Some genetic testing results back

First test they do when looking for Lynch syndrome is to look for MSI in a tumour sample. If this is found then LS is suspected and then they begin further testing to work out the mutation which can take some time. MSI doesn't confirm LS by itself. A blood test is only available once the mutation ha...

Re: Should I really test for Lynch?

You're probably aware that Lynch syndrome can strike someone out of the blue with no previous family history. It would be sensible to have it ruled out because if you are a carrier you won't be getting the screening you need. In LS a polyp can go from zero to cancer in under two years.

Re: Aspirin Study starting

I have Lynch syndrome and I'm on the CAPP3 (Cancer Prevention Program) Aspirin has been proven to help protect against cancer. The problem being what is the lowest effective dose hence the trial. It's a blind dose of either (mg) 600,300 or 100 once a day for two years then 100 for the next 3 years. ...

Re: 24 yrs. old with precancerous polyp.

Do you have a family history of bowel or womb cancers at an early age? Even if you don't your polyp should be checked for MSI traits to rule out the Genetic condition called Lynch Syndrome since you are so young. It's possible to have Lynch Syndrome with no family history whatsoever I expect you'll ...

Couldn't agree more with bathroom_tile_blues. While nobody would choose to have Lynch Syndrome it isn't an automatic death sentence, far from it. The important things are regular screening and being symptom aware. www.lynch-syndrome-uk.org

Re: Genetic testing

It all depends on if LS has already been identified in your family. If it hasn't than tests can take up to a year while if it has a simple blood test will let you know within a matter of weeks.
