Re: Recent LAR & Loop Iliostomy

I worked an office job. I would recommend a stealth belt for the ileo stomy. Wore it every day I had it and was very happy with it. As far as LARS Metamucil made a huge difference in my routine, have a glass with every breakfast!

MCT, Hope your temp ileo goes well, A bit of advise for you if you want it: 1: There are hundreds of different ostomy flanges/bags etc, if you have any issues with leaks there is a solution that your nurses will find for you. 2: I tried a lot of different supports for the bag and ended up wearing th...

Folfox and Ileo reversal

It's been a while since my last post. I've been very lucky and trying to get my life back to normal but I don't know if it ever will be. I finished up my Folfox in June 2016, did a dose reduction half way through and glad I did. The Neuropathy was ok for a month, then got worse. Currently I'm 8 mont...

Re: Hello, scared looking for advice

Stay strong Frozen, I'm sorry to find you here but you'll find lots of support on this board. You are very on top of your screens and I can't explain why they would miss that but from what I've read it seems small and being that you've had so many screens it is likely early as well. Small and early ...

Re: Original Dx T3n1b RC, complete pathological response, which adjuvant chemo to do?

Thanks everyone for the advice,

I'm going to go with Folfox and try and taper the Oxi to minimize the neuropathy. I need to do everything I can to prevent this disease from coming back and that's why I made this call.

Boy does it feel good to be NED!

Best wishes to you all,

David

Re: LAR or Not

Andrea, I'm just recovering from LAR surgery and entering week 3 post surgery. I'm thinking I'll be able to drive next week but still need to check with insurance if they have other rules. I spent 7 days in the hospital and tapered off the narcotics for pain the next week. Currently I'm not taking a...

LAR complete

Well guys, have a couple new things to update on and all pretty good news. I had a CT and MRI scan 6 weeks after finishing chemo and Rad, both came back negative, the MRI could not see any lymph nodes or the Tumor anymore - I had a complete response what a blessing! After talking with my surgeon and...

Re: This is all new to me

Brent, One of your concerns (infertility) I had to deal with as well. If you want to preserve your options you need to bank and freeze some sperm. It's important to do this before any chemo and rad and the clinics will make you an urgent appointment if you explain your situation. I think it's 3 days...

Re: New here - just starting out my journey

Hey Brent, sorry to meet you under these circumstances. Rad and Xeloda were not too bad, I had some fatigue and started to get some tender hands (week 5) but I started moisturizing like a madman and it really helped reverse it. Worked in my office job up to he start of week 6 then the "bathroom...

Re: Adjuvant Xeloda dosage

Not sure if this helps but I'm on 3600 mg/d neo-adjuvant dose for a 190lb male.

Your Onc seems kinda crazy not to know what dosage the pills come in, good luck with the new cancer centre!

New here - just starting out my journey

First off let me say thank you to the users on this forum. I have found so much information and helpful advice on this forum. I've just started my journey, dx sept 11 2015 and currently on week 5/6 for Xeloda and RT. Pretty minor side effects so far, some fatigue, gout and my hands just started to b...
