Re: Looking for experience - Liver caving in

Thanks so much for sharing, Maggie Nell and Ana. And of course Maia for our email conversations. Ana, reading about your experience was extremely helpful. I'm actually looking at a hospice place tomorrow. I was already told that the permanent sedation that I wish for won't be happening but maybe the...

Looking for experience - Liver caving in

Besides being completely yellow from jaundice, I am so tired these days and have no energy whatsoever. Even typing this message is a major effort. I just wanted to ask about experience when you know that the liver is not going to recover. When do I know that this is the end? Unfortunately, there is ...

Re: Question for chemo for lifers...

You are one tough cookie, Beans. Folfoxiri (Folfirinox?) is harsh stuff - I only lasted 4 rounds. Stanfordmum has a point. Maybe now is a good time to switch to immunotherapy. Your body is taking a real beating with your current chemo cocktail, and the catch 22 is that if you keep on pushing you mig...

Great news to start a new year with. Your radiologist sounds like a gem.

Good luck with cryoablation. Keep us posted!

Re: Cetuximab sucks balls (the big ones)

Update on my Cetuximab saga. Went to see my oncologist yesterday. I didn't even have to be the squeaky wheel to get help - the doctor was pretty shocked when she saw me, kept apologising and said that she had never seen a reaction that bad. So she sent me over to see a dermatologist. Got some cortis...

Re: Cetuximab sucks balls (the big ones)

Thanks for sharing your "funny" stories. Just what I needed today because "the face" got even worse. Woke up with puffy eyes (the left one doesn't open properly), somehow my nose doubled in size and yellow crusty stuff all over my face - and a 6 hour train ride home ahead of me. ...

Thanks for the recommendations and kind thoughts. I really appreciate being part of this community (although I'd prefer not having to be a part of it ... but that's a different story and not optional).

Cetuximab sucks balls (the big ones)

Just need to get this off my chest. Not only do I look like a burn victim but my face hurts like hell and my nail beds started bleeding. I've been sucking up the aesthetic modifications caused by various treatments without too much complaining but the side-effects of Cetuximab are pushing me over th...

Re: Liver failure...confused

Shoot. Sorry to hear that your mum's having liver issues. But I agree with plastikos A lot of people undergoing therapy for cancer have abnormal liver function tests When I re-started chemo in September I had a couple of "liver failure" symptoms - which I didn't tell my oncologist about be...

Re: 4 year stage IV cancerversary

I wish I could tell you all how the odds were beaten Just out of curiosity, Bev G.: did you have an infection during/after your treatment? I have read of a few cases of remarkable recoveries that had infections and fever before they had complete remissions (those stories were backed up by doctors/o...

Re: Fatigue /can't sleep

If you go for AbbyDoo's herbal recommendation make sure to get the Indica strain. Here's a nice and short overview of Indica vs. Sativa. http://www.leafscience.com/2014/06/19/indica-vs-sativa-understanding-differences/ Unfortunately I can't use this natural remedy at the moment. It's 4am and sleep i...
