Re: When do most recurrences occur?

I would refer to the previous mentioned stats but also that each case is individual. I was at first staged as a 2c but, after further investigation noted distant lymphnodes and suspicious bone spots I was re staged as a 4. For myself my T4b rectosigmoid cc has recurred at 8 months in a new place in ...

Re: Options??

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experience with bone mets. This is what I have been dealing with and it is without lung and most likely without any liver involvement or any lymphnodes that were removed. I had a colon and small bowel tumor and was dx'd 9 months ago. Both were resected. T...

Re: Final Denial

Kathy, I am so sorry to hear this. I have spent years fighting with insurance companies over approvals to cover procedures and medications and I totally understand that feeling of not wanting another denial, especially when you are dealing with life saving procedures. I can't tell you how many times...

Re: Obstructing tumor.. surgery first, right???

I had emergency surgery for an obstruction in my colon and small bowel and not by a crc surgeon. I wish I had had a crc surgeon as I now have to deal with an end colostosmy instead of a loop which I was told I should have had. I'm also dealing with hernia and adhesions but, I won't blame those on my...

Re: different (strange) side offects of Oxi

About the urinary problems. My onc always asks me if I have pain or trouble urinating. I asked why and he said that sometimes besides a UTI it could be an oxy side effect.

Re: Dealing with 2nd opinion docs?

I always remind myself that I am hiring these doctors and handle it the same way I would if I were hiring an employee or seeking services from another company. Yes, I am looking at other options and Sorry but, I decided to go with ____________. Remember that they work for you.

Re: What does CAT scan CONTRAST medium look like?

After drinking what felt like a ton of barium contrast for CT scans, I too had severe cramping, diarrhea and a large whiteish colored download. More fun than I should be allowed to have!

Re: OT- So what does your username mean???

Mine is a tribute to my grandfather who always called me his happy one or sunshine. One of my first memories as a child was that he used to ask me "Who is my happy one?" I'd always point to myself and answer "Happy one for you"

Re: Grading of tumors

The T category is important for some as it is part of the big picture. I for example am a T4b and the tumor had grown out of the colon, attached to my abdominal wall in several places and then grown into the small bowel. Also, your cancer is graded by how aggressive it is and that is determined by &...

Re: vet administration budget cuts

Gloria Ann, I'm not sure where you are but maybe this can help? It's a maid service for cancer patients: http://www.cleaningforareason.org/maidservice.php If not, try the AMS in your area as they usually know how to get service in your area for these type of things. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Re: Bone "islands" found in spine on CAT scan

Hi, I have what my current onc and his radiologist are calling suspicious spot showing on my CT scans. I have not heard the term bone islands to refer to them. One is located on my pelvic bone and one in my lower spine. I do not have mets to the liver or lungs. Because of this my first onc said no w...

Re: A place for time tables?

I figure you better tell me everything because I'm going to figure it out on my own anyway and I'd rather hear it from a professional. I'm grateful to have some sort of guesstimate because there are things in my life that I don't want to leave for others to have to deal with and there are many thing...

Re: Anemia after surgery???

Is he still in the hospital? I had 4 trasnfusions post resection surgery while still in the hospital but, the doc did try a wait and see for the first couple days before ordering them. If he is still in then I'm sure they are watching it.
