Finally done!

Welp, last week was my last treatment - I made it all the way through 12 sessions (although only the first 9 was full on FOLFOX - they dropped the Oxi because I have neuropathy). I hope to God I never have this terrible chemo again. I have had lots of chemo in my life and I honestly have a lot more ...

Re: 24 yrs. old with precancerous polyp.

Not to make it worse, but Lynch is not the only syndrome to be associated with crc (hello from an LFS mutant). Wait until you get your test results back. Believe me. I know you have the instinct something is wrong, and that makes the worrying worse, but cross one bridge at a time. Considering how lo...

Re: Please tell me this is normal

I think it's normal. I have so many aches and pains from all the surgeries and chemo! Especially in cold weather...and even in illogical places. I think given your clear scan it's just the normal side effects.

Re: What were your symptoms like before you were diagnosed?

Wow! 19? I'm sorry you have to go through this. Have you been diagnosed with CRC? I had bad abdominal cramps, bloating and erm... I didn't go to the bathroom a lot. And yes, fevers and chills sometimes. I realised something was seriously wrong when for a two week period I felt like I was dying - per...

Re: Forum observation

From the "lucky" standpoint, I'm lucky I only had 2 mets to my liver and 1 LN which were able to be removed, I'm lucky it was in my colon and not rectum (from what I have heard, radiation burns, complete removal, etc), im lucky i didnt have to have an ileostomy or colostomy, lucky to have...

Re: Forum observation

Haha this hit something right on the nose with me. I generally try to accept that everyone handles their personal tragedies differently and that the worst thing in someone else's life affects them just as badly as what my stuff affects me, but I will admit I do feel resentment sometimes when it come...

Oh hey, another 25y/o!

Sorry to find you here but welcome! There's pretty much answers to all your questions here so you've come to the right place.

Hope all goes well with the port insertion and your upcoming treatment.

Take care!

Re: Newly diagnosed aged 28

Hey!

Welcome to the board. I was diagnosed a little under 2 weeks before my 25th birthday - I'm quite glad to see another "kid" here

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis though - it's great that you are so positive.

Take care,
Lisa

Re: Finally--something that really seems to help with neuropathy!

I just have a question, no input (sorry!) - do you think taking it while still on chemo will help prevent neuropathy?

I'm really glad to hear your symptoms are improving though! Awesome!

Re: Dairy- eat or not?

I love dairy products. I personally don't feel it has anything to do with my cancer (especially if I have LFS) and besides, dairy tastes amazing when I'm on chemo - especially cheese, which, like a few people above, I have always had a particularly soft spot for.

Re: Haven't want to post

Hi Judy I'm sorry you had such a rough time. I didn't have it so easy my first round either, but your experience sounds a little worse! Sorry! You are most definitely not a wimp though. Ask your oncologist if they can reduce your dosage. I got mine down to 75% strength and while it's still not a wal...

Re: Anesthesia and FOLFOX - interactions?

The chemo smell got stronger after every treatment. I remember this from my chemo I got for my Osteosarcoma in 2012. I just thought it was strange that since my chemo at the beginning of November, the smell had kind of faded until yesterday - it seems to be back with a vengeance! The only new thing...

Anesthesia and FOLFOX - interactions?

Hi guys. Did any of you have any surgery that required general anesthesia while undergoing chemo? I've had an almost 3 week break since my last round of FOLFOX because I had surgery on my leg on Saturday (trying to relieve some chronic pain I've had since my last surgery on the leg). They were going...

Re: Why don't they continue chemo during the 5 year period?

Waiting period? I'm sure this has been explained elsewhere on the forum but I've never really heard of this - is this just when you're NED but they don't want to say you're in remission yet? ... @Lisa90 - In the U.S. the standard post-chemo surveillance period is five years. You can see this from t...
