Re: I'm getting worried

I was a pilot, and there’s is something fishy going on in regards to aircrew and cancer. People inside and outside the VA are aware of it, I’d probably still do it.

Re: I'm getting worried

It could be longer then 2 to 3 days if I have ilieus? Basically if my bowels are slow to start. I found out my VA primary had sent request for consult with 2nd surgeon so it looks like I'm on the right path and to let him know if I don't here from the community Care team in a week who make final de...

Re: 3 month scan ? What to expect. (Rectal)

Marie25, We hope for good results for your husband. I also have never heard of FOLFOX first. Surgery seems to be the standard. My follow-up was colonoscopy. The PET scan I had was a year after my surgery and treatments. I did it first, if they want the tumor to shrink before cutting it out they do ...

Re: Screw Cancer, Hospice is Here

Hawaii was great, didn’t want to leave. I had to get a catheter before we left, I had no pressure to pee! I’m also fighting a blockage again, I think. The nurses seem to think I have “disease progression” in my nether regions causing these problems, I hope not, a blockage would be a major event at t...

Re: Lung Cryoablation

Everyone is different but what I can tell you is they popped one of my lungs doing the procedure. If this happens you cannot fly on an airplane for 14 days afterward, it made us have to drive from Houston to Tucson. Just be ready if you fly to treatment.

Re: Emergency HIPEC, possible?

In the setting of locally advanced CRC which has spread to a small/medium part of the peritoneum but nowhere else in the body and is causing local small bowel issues, partial blockage. Are there options for HIPEC in this setting considering there are no other metastases. Can emergency HIPECs be arr...

Re: Scared of surgery in need of wisdom...

The good lord has seen to it that I’ve forgotten most of the worst parts of my surgeries and recovery, like no memory at all. My wife counts this as a blessing, I think she might be correct. As far as the jungle gym, I used to be one as well but now I’m a bit too fragile, too many things on my body ...

Re: Take me away to that special place - Picture Thread

From my room, the flight wiped me out and I’m sporting a cathedar now due to urinary retention. I’ll get this figured out and have a fun trip. Disney on Oahu.

Here’s where we are staying! We’re going to Pearl Harbor, doing a helicopter tour and spending a lot of time on the beach. I’ll see if I can send pictures along the way.

How did it go?

Dear Pyro - I just prayed that this transition for you is miraculously long in a way that defies expectations.

Thank you. Good luck! I hated my colostomy for a good 8 months, my wife emptied it for a long time, I just couldn’t. It got better, maybe I’m just immature.

Re: Quick intro -- diagnosed Friday

Counterpoint and transparency, it isn’t like the above posters for everyone. I even got an allergic reaction to erbitux after about 20 treatments that sucked really bad. My body never got used to it and it was worse every time, with the occasional easy treatment. Everyone reacts different, take care...

Re: If you want prayer stop in here!

My husband’s surgery is 9/19/19. Wow. That looks odd. Prayer request that he is strong through it and that it works wonderfully, and that I don’t have any more breakdowns. I am scared he will freak out about the seeing the ostomy. I pray it’s very manageable and that he feels better. I pray I can h...
