Re: Screw Cancer, Hospice is Here

Here’s where we are staying! We’re going to Pearl Harbor, doing a helicopter tour and spending a lot of time on the beach. I’ll see if I can send pictures along the way.

How did it go?

Dear Pyro - I just prayed that this transition for you is miraculously long in a way that defies expectations.

Thank you. Good luck! I hated my colostomy for a good 8 months, my wife emptied it for a long time, I just couldn’t. It got better, maybe I’m just immature.

Re: Quick intro -- diagnosed Friday

Counterpoint and transparency, it isn’t like the above posters for everyone. I even got an allergic reaction to erbitux after about 20 treatments that sucked really bad. My body never got used to it and it was worse every time, with the occasional easy treatment. Everyone reacts different, take care...

Re: If you want prayer stop in here!

My husband’s surgery is 9/19/19. Wow. That looks odd. Prayer request that he is strong through it and that it works wonderfully, and that I don’t have any more breakdowns. I am scared he will freak out about the seeing the ostomy. I pray it’s very manageable and that he feels better. I pray I can h...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Done in about 30 minutes this morning. I also got a good night's sleep. So about four good days in a row. It's actually pretty amazing when you're so used to waking up three to four times in the middle of the night. I am still undecided about the Miralax. I was originally planning to use it just to...

Re: Take me away to that special place - Picture Thread

Prescott last weekend, felt nice to get out of the 100 degree temps and into the mountains (mile above sea level). Had a family of Javelina’s stroll through the backyard. These aren’t pigs, they have more in common with Rodents, look it up! https://i.ibb.co/dDXKGQn/E1-CDAFA2-6-FF5-403-B-A2-B1-C75433...

Screw Cancer, Hospice is Here

The subject sums it up, when you stop chemo there isn’t many places to go plus you get all sorts of at home attention. I had problems breathing on a trip to Prescott we took, wanted some help and signing up for hospice got the help I needed that day. I met my nurse, Mary, the one who will be here ev...

Re: Itchy Skin

Thanks for the reply’s guys, the oncologist went with antibiotics. The itch has been tamed for meow but I still look like I’m on erbitux with all the skin peeling. And yes, still have a head of very thick hair. http://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=62684&start=90 This w...

Itchy Skin

All right fam, I have a new one that doesn’t involve chemo or radiation. My skin looks like hell, peeling off and itchy, mostly confined to my head. It’s never ending, haven’t changed medication except I’m not taking chemo or vectibux. I’ve read if cancer blocks the bile duct in the liver this could...

Re: Bladder retention after major surgery

So I had major surgery (12 hours) done on 8/20 and my bladder is slow to wake up. They took Foley catheter out Thursday. I am peeing but just a little at a time. Any advice or how long did this last for anyone else that experienced it?? I’m worried I’m going to have permanent issues! Could it be op...

Re: Had my surgery...ended up with colostomy bag

Had my surgery here at md Anderson in Houston on Tuesday. Lower anterior resection, vaginal reconstruction and hysterectomy. My surgeon explained to me I needed to be mentally prepared to have either permanent colostomy or temporary illeostomy. She wouldn’t know until she got in there. Apparently w...

Re: I don't have much longer.

Got back from a surgery last week. Took a bit of time to recover. Results came in - not looking good. My kids are young (son and daughter just started grade seven) and my wife is scared to death, but who could blame her? Hoping to spend as much time as possible with my family. The doctor says aroun...

Worry about the immediate battle, the port is making that easier. Sometimes the treatment for this awful disease is worse than the disease itself.

Re: Hand Foot Syndrome

I’ve been on those drugs for years but never developed H&F thankfully but Keep the super glue handy if you ever go on erbitux or vectibux. The oncologist can fiddle with your dose if it gets worse, remember to show them.
