Re: High Liver ALT and AST

DH has never had his chemo cancelled due to liver functions being high and his are over those numbers regularly. I was told that it was when they see them in the 5-6x the normal values that they worry. He has had the FUDR in his liver pump cancelled due to high ALP though.

Re: Right side pain --mets?

I am so sorry for the bad news. I hope a HIPEC is something they can do for you. I wanted to answer the original question in case this comes up for someone in a search. DH presented with side pain as his only symptom. For him it lead to a diagnosis of colon cancer with 10+mets to his liver (that was...

Re: What did you tell the kids?

Our boys were 5, 7, and 10 when my husband was diagnosed. Unfortunately we had to dive right into the issue because they saw their daddy taken away via ambulance from the doctor's office (he went in on my instance, us thinking it was his gallbladder, then he passed out at the docs and they called an...

Re: Liver spot seen on CT...Should I be concerned??

I am so sorry this is worrying you. It is never easy. My husband had a completely normal CEA when he was diagnosed and he was stage 4 with 10+mets in his liver. So obviously, for some people, CEA is crap at predicting recurrence. I would ask about maybe getting a scan a little earlier than 4 months....

Re: Stella (vilca11) went home (more than a month ago)

I met Stella Last year when she received the bad news at MSKCC that things were progressing. She was a spitfire for sure! She will be missed. Prayers for her family as they deal with this loss.

Re: Rooms at MSK Hospital

I think we are going to just play it by ear. Hopefully he will have a considerate roommate, I just want him to be able to get some rest but I guess that will come once he gets home. I'm glad to hear everyone has had great experiences there with nurses, etc. because I won't be able to stay in NYC wi...

Re: Rooms at MSK Hospital

If you do end up doing the private room option, the room might include a sofa for you to sleep on. Mass General Hospital's private rooms have them, so I am considering that for when my husband has his liver surgery. However, at $400/night, we might not be able to swing it. Unless you get the privat...

Re: Rooms at MSK Hospital

DH has been a patient twice at MSKCC. The first time we requested a room change due to an obnoxious roommate. He kept talking really loud, had tons of visitors, and would leave the TV on all day. Loudly. DH had problems with his pain management due to the epidural not covering about 1 inch of the in...

Re: I need a little hope

Well I got my second opinion, pretty much same as the first. Not really sure where to go from here it just feels like with surgery off the table there is no real hope of ever reaching remission. They think the liver tumors are too spread out as well as lymph nodes in multiple regions making the pos...

Re: I need a little hope

I was able to schedule an appointment at MD Anderson for Augustn3rdnsonInwill now definitely wait to start treatment until after I see them. Currently I am awaiting the results of the genetic testing on the tumor. The waiting is hard but it feels good to have a date to look forward to. Anyone that'...

Re: New and in need of help please

Dr. D'Angellica is a Rock Star and I told him as much Friday. Dr. Paty nailed the colon resection and we are so grateful to the entire MSK team for their extreme skill, professionalism and compassion. They are all amazing, aren't they? so glad your brother is recovering well. The nurses on the 16th...
