Re: Tribute to my dear friend Anne - aka BeansMama

I have had this song earworming me since this morning when I read that Beansmama is

Re: 22 years old and scared to death

Mostu, between now and when you have your appointment on Jan 22, it might help if you
follow a low-residue diet (google that up) as your colon is under stress. It's the one
thing that you can do to support your body.

As well as taking yourself to an Emergency Room if your symptoms worsen.

After bowel cancer, I understand why people are tempted to reject treatment

I consider myself a man of science. I was trained as a scientist, have worked as a science communicator and am now studying to become a doctor. But at the age of 28, I was diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer and told I needed aggressive treatments http://www.abc.net.au/news/science/2017-05-10/why-...

Re: Feeling stressed.

Two more sleeps. The tablets I took a while ago seem to be working! I'm now worried about a dull ache which has recently developed in my lower abdomen. Maybe the change of diet, I've been on low residue for a week now. Or maybe the different bile supply now my gallbladder is out. I'm sure I'll get ...

Re: 2017 : In Memoriam

I google-stumbled across the blog of Tom Floria - don't know if he was a member here. Tom went to the Great Yooper in the sky, but his legacy lives on in this very informative blog he kept from 2009-2015. http://bowelresectionhomerecover.blogspot.com.au/2011/ Thomas James Floria 24 Dec 1944-28 Oct 2...

http://www.life20.co.nz/living-life-after-cancer-blog/8-ways-to-deal-with-scanxiety The first study on “Scanxiety” came out in 2016. I don’t think that’s an official word yet, but it’s definitely on the “street” where the people are real. Apparently 83% of people have some experience of pre-scan anx...

Re: Feeling stressed....

You know, I used to be soooo terrified of needles at the dentist that during my childhood I had every filling done without benefit of pain relief. My poor dentist I gave him ptsd. HIs brother was sailor John Bertrand who skippered Australia II in the early 80s to snatch the America's Cup. Every time...

Re: Feeling stressed....

What has your age got to do with being able to cope? Have you thought about getting a script for Xanax or Valium (I'm not up on the names of the current anti-anxiety meds) just for the short-term to get you over the anxiety hump? As it has been 3 years and this surveillance colonoscopy was 'supposed...
