Re: Just told I have a mass in rectum

Hi, KathyLynn! My story is similar to yours. I was in my mid-fifties, had my first colonoscopy, and upon waking was told they were almost 100% positive it was rectal cancer. Mine was 6 cm, I think. This time is devastating, terrifying, and overwhelming. You will have a lot of information and a lot o...

Re: OK, Kids. Come out of the closet. What do you guys do?

I've done lots of things over the years. I started out doing complete inventories of mini-markets back when each item had to be counted by hand. After doing that for a while, I could look at a group of thirty or so items and just know how many there were. It was strange. And I used to count items in...

Re: O/T-Solar Eclipse-Updated with video link

WOW!!! I panned around and could see 360 degrees. The enormous curving shadow of the moon moving towards the earth and blotting out the clouds was an eerie and ethereal sight -- especially in full screen on my monitor. I panned up and saw the actual weather balloon and then the sun in totality. It ...

Re: O/T-Solar Eclipse

So, as promised, here is a link to my daughter's video. They shot it at The Homestead in Nebraska and there was heavy cloud cover at that location. They had hoped to track the moon's shadow on earth as it passed in front of the sun, but the balloon went to 40,000 ft. which was above the clouds, so y...

Re: O/T-Solar Eclipse

If anyone is interested and if things go well, I can ask CRGuy if I can post a link to the video after it's uploaded. Let me know if anyone would like to see it. Hooray for geeky science girls! (I'm one of them!) I'd love to see the video! How are they tracking where the balloon will land??? The Sm...

Re: On surgeon's advice, going to try the - gulp - daily enema

Exactly, Susie! That's the feeling I have most days doing enemas. I wish I could tell you why. I wonder if it has anything to do with what I'm eating. One of the reasons I like doing enemas is so that I do have more freedom with food choices. I don't mean that I take the liberty of eating junk or n...

Re: On surgeon's advice, going to try the - gulp - daily enema

I had a day like that just yesterday. Usually, after I empty, I have about a half hour or so when I feel crampy and like I still have more to get out, but don't. Then it goes away until the next enema. I sometimes have a stitch in my side in the evenings, always right where my ileostomy was, but if ...

Re: O/T-Solar Eclipse

Here are a couple of other cool websites my darling daughter shared with me with information on the path, timing, etc. You can click on where you live on the map and it will tell you when the eclipse will be happening in your area. Re: O/T-Solar Eclipse

Anyone have any special plans for the eclipse? If anyone is interested and if things go well, I can ask CRGuy if I can post a link to the video after it's uploaded. Let me know if anyone would like to see it. I too, am in the path of eclipse watching, however my special plans w/b watching it on TV ...

Re: Anxiety for Caregiver

Can you ask your doctor for a prescription for Ativan? I find it to be very gentle and help a lot. It doesn't make me woozy or feel drugged at all. Some people find relief from stress through exercise. I know it's probably hard for you to find a spare minute for yourself, but if you can take a brisk...

Re: Two Years Ago and a Thank You

Thank you to all of you for your kind replies to my rambling. Miss Molly, you've had my heart for a long time and you know I cherish the special bond we've formed. If I've given you even one smile, then I'm happy. You've given me so much helpful information, but also support, encouragement, smiles, ...

O/T-Solar Eclipse-Updated with video link

My oldest daughter has a Masters Degree in aerospace engineering. That's right, the nutty lady has a rocket scientist for a daughter. Trust me, I'm as confused about how that happened as you probably are. Anyway, she worked in the orbiter of the space shuttle Endeavor for years, then worked on Navy ...

I'm so sorry for what you have gone through and are still going through. It sucks that evil cancer snuck back up on you. I'm glad you found us, but sorry you need to be here in the first place. It's hard to find positives when you are going through the treatments for cancer, but I may have one for y...

Two Years Ago and a Thank You

I've read different opinions on when to start counting your "cancerversary" on different websites. Some start counting from the day they were diagnosed while others count from the first day they are cancer-free. I'm not sure which is correct, but I just wanted to post today because on Augu...
