Re: Surgery or no?

I was contacted by an MD Anderson patient that had the entire right side of his liver obliterated with the proton beam.

I have too many tumors to count on the right and 3 or 4 small on the left. I also have a couple that have started to grow, I guess that is a bad indicator.

Surgery or no?

I was scheduled to have a liver resection next month at MSK. Then my PVE failed and that was called off. I went to Mayo and the surgeon there told me that while it was technically possible he would not do it because of the amount of disease made the prognosis not good at all. I am heading to MD Ande...

Re: Jalusa update

I heard from the surgeon. Surgery appears to be off the table.

This sucks. All the ny trips.

This has to do with my anatomy. Don't base your decision on my results.

Re: Silly Question on Disability or Life Insurance

The new healthcare law does not allow you to be turned down for a pre-existing condition.

Re: Jalusa update

So I went in to have the PVE yesterday. Woke up to them telling me that my anatomy did not allow them to do it.

I am thinking open surgery to tie off the vein may be next.

Will know more next week.

Re: Options for inoperable stage iv Rc with liver mets???

That is how she works. I got in faster by requesting to see a surgeon. My initial visit was with Dr. DeMatteo.

Re: Jalusa update

I will meet with them both on Wednesday. I do think the Onc would like more chemo prior to surgery. I am afraid of liver damage. She would start Mitomyacin.

Re: Jalusa update

So the surgeon ordered another MRI that I had a week ago. He wanted to take another look. I heard from my Onc today that the surgeon is willing to go forward with a two stage surgery. Catch is that the Onc doesn't think it is a good idea. She says there is too much disease and we won't get clear mar...

Re: Jalusa update

No news. Had another MRI. Surgeon wanted to see if any changes since liver splints. I will see him in two weeks.

I have a feeling that I am going to end up in a situation where the surgeon will offer a risky surgery that may not get clear margins and my Onc not recommending it.

Re: I thought it was over...wrong

Maybe more fiber? Fiber can help even things out. I had the same surgery things work well. I eat a bowl of raisen bran every AM.
