Re: nivolumab + ipilimumab + radiation in mss and MSI high

When I first started on opdivo, it was pretty uncharted territory for even msi cases, so trust and take the plunge. Thanks Henry123. Somewhat frightening, in that I am not MSI-H, 4.5 years after treatment for metastasis. Checkpoint inhibitors were seemingly out of reach until now. Still not covered...

Re: nivolumab + ipilimumab + radiation in mss and MSI high

Thanks Herry123. I am apparently starting on the 31st, barring any unexpected occurrences. Would love to hear from folks who have been involved with this particula combination of immunotherapy drugs, with or without radiation—or who know more about this trial or other similar trials. Seems promising...

Re: Mannose possibly enhancing chemo

Saw it. Wondered if it was the miracle cure. Worried about panaceas. Wondered if it could interfere with current treatment.

nivolumab + ipilimumab + radiation in mss and MSI high

I am not MSI high, hence it was my understanding that, with MSS tumors, I would not be a good candidate for immunotherapy. I have, however, been recruited and approved for a trial at Mass General called nivolumab and ipilimumab and radiation therapy in mss and MSI high colorectal and pancreatic canc...

Re: Working during Irenotecan

I did many cycles of Xeloda with Iranotican and Avastin; the only work
I missed was infusion days. I had far less problems with the Iranotican side effects than I did with Oxaliplatin. But each patient is different.

Re: Stivarga? Opinion? Knowledge? Recommendations?

Thanks RP 1954. Keeping plan B in mind. No $ left for Chang Nesselhut esoterica. Immunotherapies are certainly developing and the possibility of a Plan C becoming widely and affordable available is the light at the end of the tunnel for a lot of long term palliative care mCRC folks. I do not yet sha...

Thanks. The thread was very informative. Worried about side effects, but will see.

Stivarga? Opinion? Knowledge? Recommendations?

Just finished third round of Xelox (Xeloda with Oxaliplatin) . Lung meta stable, but side effects ( cold sensitivity, neuropathy and fatigue)are nearly unbearable for me, working full time in cold New England. Onc has recommended a few weeks off, then see if I remain stable on Stivarga. (Says we can...

Re: Julie Yip Williams passed away last Monday, Mar 19th, 2018

Sad. Julie wrote wonderfully. We connected once for a long talk over coffee in Brooklyn. Discussed similarities and differences, being in palliative care, identity, and being lawyers and parents with this loathesome, incurable disease. Hurts to see her go.

Re: Oxaliplatin and Combatting Neuropothy

Thanks Zephyr. I had read that Gabapentin was found not to work on neuropathy. Willing to try whatever is effective, I suppose, but I had read the 2007 American Cancer Society article from 2007 that I am attaching below that seemas to indicate that it doesn’t seem to help—double blind study. Do you ...

Re: Oxaliplatin and Combatting Neuropothy

So, calcium infusions (or even oral dosing) seem to have some effect. I am looking for some scientific authority. Found the linked article below that was somewhat enlightening, and will send it to my poor, overworked, indulgent ONC., but wondering if anyone else has experimented with any of the pres...

Re: Oxaliplatin and Combatting Neuropothy

Thanks, Mike. Have trouble with the “been on” part...I like to think of myself as at the beginning of the journey. I have been dealing with hand-foot effects of Xeloda for years. The Oxi is bringing this to a new leve. Short-term disability for a person with lung mets on palliative chemo who needs i...

Oxaliplatin and Combatting Neuropothy

Just began a new regime today; went from Xeloda with Iranotican with Avastin to Xeloda with Oxaliplatin and Xarelto (due to pulmonary embolism in last scan and slight growth of one tumor. Problem: I immediately felt numbness in fingers and cold sensitivity in teeth/mouth. Walking outside (into 19 de...

Re: New "Universal" Cancer Vaccine is under development at Stanford University

Seems so promising! Anyone here have any more information? Nice that their universal group of cancers specifically mentions CRC—-so often not the case.
