Multiple reoccurrence survival stories

Hi everyone. Have been feeling very nervous since my husband had his third reoccurrence diagnosed in November last year. It feels sometimes like we are fighting a losing battle. If there is anyone who'd like to share their multiple reoccurrence survival story I would love to hear it.

Re: CEA increasing trend

Mine did and it was a false positive. A year ago my CEA was around 2.9 or 3.1. It has never been lower than 2.4 in 9 years. Six months later it was 5.8. I'd read that hypothyroid can cause false positives and since my scans were clear, I asked for blood work and sure enough, my TSH showed I was hyp...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

My husband was diagnosed with stage IIIa bowel cancer in 2013. He was 4 years NED (except CEA slightly raised in 5's). Liver met in 2017 he had a resection and now 1 year post NED on CT. CEA still raised (currently 8.2) but this might be his normal. He was 43 years old at diagnosis and we are glad w...

Re: Question on CEA, cancer recurrence and psoriasis

Thanks for the replies. :) The only medication he currently takes for the psoriasis is steroid creams so no biotin. I was surprised that the oncologist was concerned the cea was 4.8 when it was 4.5 previously. She said the test sensitivity wasn't that great that this represented an increase. Still s...

Question on CEA, cancer recurrence and psoriasis

Hi everyone, my husband was diagnosed (age 44) with stage 3a colon cancer in 2013. After surgery and 6 months of folfox his CT scans were clear but the CEA has been 4.5 and 4.8 on the last tests. His oncologist told us (after the second test) that this was too high. They have now ordered another CT ...
