Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Miss Molly, you seem pretty knowledgeable about small bowel obstructions. My first one was right after the holidays and they sent me home, but I am still having significant pain. It will be 4 weeks. Doesn't this seem like a long time for recovery. I have been on a Miralax regimen, low fiber diet, (a...

Re: Short Term (5 Days) Radiation - Side Effects?

Steph, I see you did reply the rad not working on the ab wall tumor. Hmm... I am curious as to what you decide to do in reference to the trials. Surgery out of the question?

Re: Short Term (5 Days) Radiation - Side Effects?

Steph, stable is good? Had you ever considered a second HIPEC? Sounds like most of your stuff is limited to that area. Going back to the SBRT conversation - did it not work at all with ab wall tumor?

Re: Short Term (5 Days) Radiation - Side Effects?

Steph20021. UGH, not the response I was hoping to hear. I am wishing you the best on your CT results. Please let me know the outcome. I thought the SBRT was supposed to be every effective...were they surprised it didn't not eliminate the mets and spots in the abdomen?

Re: Short Term (5 Days) Radiation - Side Effects?

Steph20021..Ugh, well that was not response I was hoping for. I am hoping for good news on your next CT and that the chemo is working. Do you have any clinical trials in mind? Were they surprised the radiation didn't get rid of the ab/pelvis stuff? I thought this treatment was supposed to be extreme...

@Steph20021

Thank you so much for your sharing your experience. That makes me feel so much better. I looked at your signature. Are you on chemo for the lymph nodes? Did the radiation get rid of the abdominal wall tumor?

@Canada777

Wanted to check back in with you to see if your DH has experienced any new symptoms. I was told it could be a few weeks after treatment. Hoping not!

Re: Question for those who have had Pelvic R - Proton Therapy?

Thank you for your responses. My doctor told me short therapy would have no side effects but i have read of so many people that seem to have many radiation side effects. Actually curious as to those who have had 5 days of radiation and what their side effects are. @phillypatient - Did you have side ...

Re: Hormone Replacement Therapy

I waited for a while after chemo before I asked my Gyno for Hormone Replacement Therapy. I have done hormone pellets (estrogen and testerone) and oral progesterone. My gynecologist does not believe colon cancer is hormone related and had no trouble giving it to me. Like you, my hormones were in the ...

Short Term (5 Days) Radiation - Side Effects?

I just had a met removed from my right pelvic side wall. The surgeon said he successfully removed the entire tumor but he did not have much space to work in because it was close to the uretha. He is not confident he got good margins so is recommending short term radiation to prevent potential recurr...

Re: Is it possible for a Stage IV to have no met in LN at all?

I have aways wondered the same thing. Mine has spread from colon to liver to peritoneal to lung. Never any lymph node involvement. Always one met to each place, though peritineal had two. My doctors says this is rare and don't say it is better or worse. They always say it s 50/50 it could come back....

Re: Anemia caused by colon tumor

Our stories sound very similar. They told me it would take a few months for the iron to come back up to normal and it did. Haven't had a problem since. Good luck.
