Re: Colon resection now abcessed

Sorry to hear this. Had a somewhat similar experience with an abscess after liver resection. Treatment is to drain and give antibiotics. If it’s any consolation some people say the stimulation of one’s immune system caused by the infection can “theoretically” improve one’s odds of cure. Hope it goes...

Another article on duration of immunotherapy after good response http://cancergrace.org/cancer-101/2016/09/14/io-duration/ Hi Henry. First of all congrats on your results on Opdivo. I have been on Keytruda for a year and I am doing well save for the toll it is taking financially. Where I live the d...

Are you continuing with Keytruda for now?
Any discussion with your medical oncologist on that front.

Hi Henry. Yes as of now the plan is to continue with Keytruda up until 2 years though I might bargain with him if he’s ok with reducing the frequency.

3 years from diagnosis, 1 year on Keytruda

I don’t post often but I just wanted to share my experience so far. I joined this forum late 2014. At that time I was just diagnosed with St IV colon cancer with liver mets. Since then I have had 2 recurrences, 2 major surgeries with postop complications, 30+ rounds of chemo, 2 biliary stenting proc...

Re: Solitary Lung Met - Looking for Positive Experiences

I believe there are lots of stories here of good outcomes after treatment for solitary lung mets. That you are getting treatment for it is good. Hang in there.

Re: New here...At a Crossroad

Hi Janis. Sorry to hear about your situation. It may sound cliche but there is always hope. Other people with similar situations have reached NED status again. It is true that you may have to face the possiblity of having treatments indefinitely but even this is not a certainty. Just worry about the...

Re: Any Stage IV long term survivors here?

Just thought I’d bump this thread up. Maybe some of us need to hear stories from time to time. I know I do. As for me, I am approaching my 3 year mark from diagnosis in late 2014. I have had some wonderful periods of being NED and hopefully will enter another one soon. Hopefully for good. A lot has ...

Re: Stage IV Suvivor Celebrates Third Anniversary of Surgery

First time to see this thread. First of all congrats on everything. As you can see from my sig we were basically in same boat (right sides lesion with liver mets). Bit since my surgery I have had 2 recurrences. I have never had Avastin (I wish I had the first time) but we decided on Erbitux since my...

Re: Peri mets, Stage IV --- Need advice

Hi. Sorry to hear about this. I know it’s jarring but don’t lose hope. You still have options. First get to a good cancer center like others have already mentioned. If you want to go aggressive explore HIPEC. You may also have your tumor tested for MSI status and try immunotherapy. Or even combine b...

Re: MEDI4736 CLINICAL TRIAL (KEYTRUDA)

Had to stop Keytruda due to mouth sores and throat and mouth infection. Tumor grew and CEA up to 68. They are gonna change my therapy and let's see from there. Gotta gain bodyweight. Sorry to hear this Rob. Hope they find an alternative, maybe another PD-1 inhibitor. Have you ever considered SIRT f...
