Testing and follow up.

This letter was in my newspaper today regarding Breast Cancer Awareness Month and other cancers. The writer stresses it is urgent to follow-up with results.

Celebrating the Second Decade of Survival

10 years ago today, I woke up with symptoms that led to my diagnosis and treatment of Stage II colon cancer. It was the day after Thanksgiving or "Black Friday" in the United States. I chose to celebrate by helping out my local Relay for Life. You can read about here: http://coalregionvoic...

Celebrate 10 years?

On 12/23/2012, I will be celebrating 10 years of survival and looking forward to another decade of survival from Stage 2b colon cancer.

Has anyone did anything exciting? I am looking to maybe have a fundraiser and donate to my local Relay for Life.

BTW, I haven't been here in awhile.

Extreme Home Makeover

I never watch the show but for some dumb reason I watched tonight. The Creasy Family from North Carolina was featured. The mother is a teacher and Stage IV colon cancer patient. What scared me was her out of pocket medical expenses were $1400.00 a month. A telling moment was when the husband and Ty ...

Colonothon - Getting the Word Out

Re: Healthcare Reform

The main thing I took from the article is the screening rates even at "age eligible" times. I think they are very low for people who need them and would "probably" be covered by insurance.

Blue Strikes Back!!!

I was at a small college football game over the weekend. Not that I get really upset, but there was a sority collecting in the stands for breast cancer during the 3rd quarter. A sorority member offered me a pink ribbon for awareness. I told her I would make a trade. I gave her my blue wrist band and...

With any event you need to start small and what you could handle. Be creative. Our group also partners with ACS and a few local hospitals for an age specific database.
