One Year CT Scan and Tests

12 months ago since my last treatment and had all the follow-up test done. CEA Normal, Blood Normal, All Scopes normal and CT scan normal. Although my Oncologist worded the results is a strange way "There was nothing very suggestive of cancer on the scan." The word VERY hit me weird.

Re: How good is it to get a complete response

The reason I did not have radiation is a agreed to do a study involving no radiation. They are trying to use a combination of drugs to replace it. They feel radiation to the bowel area is so damaging. I think it was a risk. During my initial colonoscopy they saved the biopsy. After the complete resp...

How good is it to get a complete response

My surgeon actually called me and told me after reviewing my path report that I had a complete response. He was actually excited. Honestly, I had no idea what it was. So, I asked. He said there was no detectable cancer found and no nodes involved. I asked what it means for me. He said statically onl...

Re: Not feeling all that well... (blood?)

I had my LAR in Nov 14 2014. Did not do well with bag. Reversal May 1 with port removal. I am still tired and have to take naps. Prior to diagnosis June 2014 I was working out 4 hours a day. I did a clinical trial they are doing that treats without radiation. Folfox chemo, oxilpilatin, with leucovor...

Does blood work tell anything

Just curious. My Onc relies heavily on blood work. He said if there was anything wrong the blood work would show something. My CEA level has always been normal even when I had cancer.

Re: Signs you are dying.

I have read studies show people who exercise have a 50 percent better response to chemo. I hiked 5 miles a day 7 days a week.

Re: End of Life Question

I agree with Eric. His one of the first post I read when I started this journey. I even bought a bike because of him. I have never met him. But, have a ton of respect for him.

I have to stop worrying about reoccurrence

I have been very lucky on my journey. I was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer in June 2014. Did my chemo and LAR. Complete response to chemo and no nodes involved. Reversal and port removed. All great news. 9 month check up and all clear. Doctors say the only better news they can give me is I nev...
