Re: ADAPT and Celebrex - What happened?

Team, I am just bumping up this topic, which I think is very interesting. Is anyone still having this protocol ? Are there any new researches being done on ADAPT ? Do anyone has the link for the finally published result of the tests ? Thanks ! TheDruid I had to stop celebrex due to progressive coro...

Re: ADAPT and Celebrex - What happened?

Seems like Celecoxib increases heart risk, but I guess for most of us this is an acceptable risk. JC I have been on Celebrex 400 daily for more than five years. Initially with xeloda for maintenance and then just Celebrex. I have had a good oncological outcome (Stanley Scans for five years off chem...

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

there have been many long term survivors who elected to have ostomies in order to STAY alive with a quality of life, to see them through to the next stage of their Journey. Many of us have had temporary -ostomies to get us through what we needed to get through. Please don't reject or give up on any...

Re: W&W or Surgery Dilemma

Totally depends on one’s risk tolerance and personality. I was offered w/w, but for me, it would have been more stressful. I opted for APR, have a permanent ostomy that is really no big deal and doesn’t limit or alter my life in any significant way, and 5 years later I am very happy with my decision...

Re: 6 month scans clear

Great news Rob! I am not on this forum much, but came back to update my own status, and I’m happy to see a familiar name. This week’s scan (in spite of the detour to the emergency room) was a big one for me. I am now 5 years out from completion of chemo and have had 5 years of stable scans. It has b...

Re: “Near” Complete Clinical Response and what to do next

I would definitely want definitive answers. Can they rebiopsy one of the bumps? I opted against watch and wait even though I had a complete clinical response (and it turns out a complete path one also). Permanent colostomy and no regrets. I would much rather ovrrtreat than under treat

Re: The 10 most obese states in the U.S.

Who knows, maybe it IS ... something in the water ???? Just sayin' Cheers all CRguy I have actually seriously wondered if it actually is something in the water. I was living in a rural part of Minnesota when I was diagnosed, and had zero risk factors (thin, athletic, plant-based diet). And two of m...

Re: Do you have experience with CareOncology.com?

If you are interested in hearing from a big number of people using the COC protocol and other repurposed drugs, I suggest joining the Facebook group “repurposed drugs for cancer”. I have been in this group for a few years and have learned a lot. The discussions Are generally based on science and not...

Re: Question about wound under ostomy adhesive

I have a lot of experience with wounds near my ostomy as I suffer from pyoderma gangrenosum. I have had the best luck bu compressing with dilute white vinegar and then applying a piece of a hydrofera blue ostomy ring over any open areas. I then apply a brava pad (cut to fit around my stoma and cover...

Re: APR surgery for low rectal tumor

I had an ultra low rectal tumor and a complete response to neoadjuvant chemo followed by chemo radiation. I was offered watch and wait but because I had suck extensve lymph node involvement including distant nodes I was more comfortable with surgery. LAR surgery would have almost certainly led to ba...

Re: No chemoradiation before surgery

It is a balancing act. Neoadjuvant treatment can result in downstaging and an improved prognosis for any stage disease, but the benefit for very early stage patients is minimal. Radiation toxicity can be an issue (it is for me), but resurrect cancer would be a much worse outcome. When in doubt, get ...
