Varubi

I just wanted to let the colon community know about a new anti-emetic out there. It's called Varubi (rolapitant) and is in the same class as Emend. It's a NK-1 receptor antagonist. I have run the gamut of anti emetics over my 7 1/2 years of chemo and all failed miserably until I added Emend to my Al...

Re: Folfiri every 2 weeks vs 3 weeks

Stevieb I have been on Fofiri with Cetuximab for a total of 7 years next month. I cut back to every 3 week, 2 week, 3 week, 2 week etc. schedule when my cancer was stable. I did it for about a year and the 3 week interval were GREAT! Had to go back to every 2 weeks when little things "pop up&qu...

Re: Radiation for lungs???

Pita, just wanted to relay my experience with radiation. In 2012 I was diagnosed with 2 brain mets. I had SRT and did absolutely fabulous with a complete response. In Oct of 2014 my PET scan showed a very small active lymph node in the left hilar region of my chest. Since it was the only new activit...

Re: What is "normal" CEA?

Just wanted you to know that the CEA is not always an indicator of disease. My initial CEA was 50 when I had 12 liver tumors. Then went down to no higher than 3 while I was NED. Then when I had my re occurrence in my brain, lungs, spine and cervix the CEA never went up above 3.5. So in my case CEA v...

Re: Chemo and other treatments

Hello Suzanne Thanks for all the info. Tomorrow my SO will have completed her 26th cycle of Folfox + Avastin. That makes it 21 cycles of Oxaliplatin and 23 of Avastin. Her oncologist suggested yesterday that there may only be another 2 cycles of Oxi in her . He would then switch over to Irinotecan....

Re: Chemo and other treatments

Amandatrrii, I actually have an enormous amount of experience with FOLFIRI (Irinotecan/5FU). That's the chemo I've been on for almost seven years. Usually Drs put us on FOLFOX (Oxaliplatin/5FU) first but my Dr gave me a choice and I decided on FOLFIRI. I didn't know it at the time but you can get FO...

Chemo and other treatments

Hi everyone, This is a question for those of you who are long term stage iv terminal survivors. I am an 8 year survivor who has been on chemo for almost 7 years. My question is what chemo have you been on, for how long and how many different types? Are you on non stop or do you take breaks? Also, ho...

Re: Aloxi to prevent chemo nausea -- is it enough?

I have been doing Folfiri with cetuximab for a total of 5 1/2 years. The first time was for 3 years. I had a bit of nausea and a few vomiting episodes mostly in the beginning before I knew what to expect. I recieved Aloxi and Dexamethasone as my premeds but felt I needed more and tried every anti em...

Re: survival beyond statistics

rp1954, I can't say I do anything too special other than the chemo. I don't take any supplements other than Lysine for oral ulcers. Ironically I've been a vegetarian for 28 years since the age of 15, but I can't say that I'm too strict about what I eat. I remember when I was diagnosed there was talk...

survival beyond statistics

Hi all! I haven't been very vocal about my cancer fight but I figure it's about time I let others know that there IS hope for those of us diagnosed terminal stage iv. I was diagnosed January 4th 2008 at the age of 36 with a sigmoid mass and 12 liver mets. I had the colon surgery and was told that th...
