Re: Time for my check up - 3 questions

Skoliv, Congratulations!!! That's what I expected in your case!!! So happy for you. I am still confused about my staging. One colorectal surgeon said I am not even stage 1. Others did not really focus on staging. Basically my polyp was the same as yours. But the adenocarcinoma was in the head of th...

Re: Time for my check up - 3 questions

Thank you so much for caring! Just out of curiosity what on earth is "significant looping of the colon"?

Re: Time for my check up - 3 questions

Hi! So did the colonoscopy today. Prep was only fair, so doc wasn't too happy but said it was ok (miralax/Gatorade really didn't do that much for me). Anyway, I have no polyps or tumor or anything!!! Well, I do have internal hems, external hems and a fissure (all from childbirth I think), but in our...

Re: Evolution of breast cancer- update

I am so sorry! But I am sure it will be very initial since you have been doing all the screening right? Protocol is there for a reason, to catch something early if needed.

How fast is fast?

How fast is a fast growing polyp/tumor? In the really worst aggressive cenario, how long would it take to go from nothing to polyp then to cancer? I know it is a hard question but given all the experiences here maybe you have an idea?

Re: Time for my check up - 3 questions

So, I scheduled the dreaded colonoscopy. August 2nd. I am having more and more bleeding, now staining toilet water. Very depressed... Do hems do that?? How fast is a fast growing tumor? How can I be having this 14 months after a clean scope? When I Reason with myself I tend to get calmer, that is un...

Re: Could radioactive iodine for thyroid cancer cause colon cancer?

My former supervisor had the same treatment for thyroid cancer. That was I believe over 15 years ago, and he has not developed any secondary cancers as a result so far. Seeing as he also worked in Oncology drug discovery I believe he is VERY vigilant. Its known that treatment for one cancer does of...

Could radioactive iodine for thyroid cancer cause colon cancer?

I had to take some radioactive iodine for my thyroid cancer in 2008 and was wondering if this could have caused or at least helped create my huge cancerous polyp removed in 2014. Has anyone else ever taken this or heard of a relation between the two?

Re: Time for my check up - 3 questions

Oh and with regard to what type and how many , one adencarcinoma in 4cm polyp with high grade dysplasia well differentiated (I am translating so sorry for mistakes). The cancer was actually in the stalk and not at all in head, which surprised the docs. But there was no invasion to sub-mucosa and cle...

Re: Time for my check up - 3 questions

I might be getting ahead of myself but if this colonoscopy is clear (cross fingers) they will say come back in 5 years?! That seams so scary to me! If in a year you can grow polyps image in 5? I think I could not live with the doubt for so long, specially because I have bleeding every once in a whil...

Re: Time for my check up - 3 questions

Jmo from what I know. Fresh blood (bright red) is most likely not from a tumor. Depending on size and/or location, you may not know it's there, most likely not. You just had a baby also, so could be hems, or something else. I had my 1 yr after surgery colonoscopy and just a small 3mm polyp. Can the...

Re: Time for my check up - 3 questions

Buckeye, did you feel pain while going? I don't have that much blood, a few drops on paper and top part of stool coated with blood too. I guess symptoms are just too similar to know if it is a new polyp or a hemorrhoid/fissure. Hopefully if it is a new polyp it will not have had time to become cance...

Re: Time for my check up - 3 questions

Hi Guys, appreciate the reply! Bev g, they took the whole polyp out, including stalk, and analyzed it all. Do you think I should have pushed for a ct scan or something? The oncologist told me not to because of all the masses I could find, that would surely be benign (since he was positive stage 0) b...
