CEA and the chicken pox virus?

This is probably going to seem like an odd question, but does anyone know if exposure to the chicken pox virus could cause an increase in CEA? My CEA spiked a bit with this most recent blood draw (from 1.6 to 2.2). You can see from the numbers in my sig that somewhere between 1.3 and 1.6 is pretty m...

Re: 38 with, single with baby stage 4

I'm so sorry you're going through this. My youngest was only 10 months when my tumor was found, so I know how incredibly scary it can be to face a cancer diagnosis with young children. You've gotten some great advice. To echo what others have said, I would strongly recommend that you find a way to g...

Re: Scanxiety: Anyone else having testing now?

I’m with you, Diane! Am in the process of trying to get my annual scan scheduled for Friday or Monday. I know it needs to be done but boy am I not looking forward to it...
I guess ignorance is bliss.

You will be in my thoughts, for sure. Here’s hoping it’s a good outcome for all of us.

Re: 8 years war

This is such an important story and there are too few here who know or understand it. I am in awe of what rp has accomplished on behalf of his wife. Some may question his methods but the proof is truly in the pudding.

Re: Julie Yip Williams passed away last Monday, Mar 19th, 2018

Such a loss. Julie was an incredible advocate and spokeswoman for the CRC cause. I can only imagine the impact her writings will have when published.

My thoughts and prayers are with her husband and young daughters.

Interesting--thanks for posting. I didn't participate in any surveys but it sounds like they've definitely got me pegged as the Adventurer I am :).

Re: CEA and thyroid

While searching for a reason for my CEA to have risen to 5.8, I found an article about hypothyroid and false elevations in CEA. I asked my onc for thyroid testing and the results came back that I do have an under active thyroid. I can't get in to see a doctor for over a month so have asked my oncol...

Truly heartbroken to hear this. Some combination of denial and Tom's unrelenting positivity had convinced me that his recent challenges were a temporary setback. What a terrible loss for the CRC community and especially for his young family. :(

Re: Pain near belly button -- umbilical hernia?

Thanks all--really appreciate all the responses. Just wanted to provide a brief update. I ended up seeing my GI a few weeks ago and he decided to order an endoscopy, since I was also having some burning pain at the base of my sternum and ribcage. He said I definitely don't have a hernia but the endo...
