Re: Alcohol use since diagnosis

I drink wine at the very least 3x a week. Not "drunk" but a good buzz. Two bottles a week for sure.

Re: Stage 1 folow up CT scan

At my one year mark I had chest/pelvic/abdomen CT and they've not given me any since.

Re: Recommended Stage 1 follow up?

Blood work including CEA every three months for the first year then every six months for years 2-5.

CT at one year (I've had no more since)

Colonoscopy every year for five years then possibly every 5 yrs after

I've had genetic testing-all went well and covered by my insurance so why not.

I thought with trials the patient pays nothing out of pocket?

Re: Monitoring for Children of Parents with Colon Cancer

I was told that my 14 year old son should get a colonoscopy 10 years before the age I was diagnosed so that would be 26 for him. My genetic testing is ongoing. They are waiting until the tumor testing is done in order to decide what blood tests need to be done. They have send the blood tests to oth...

Re: Monitoring for Children of Parents with Colon Cancer

This scares me a lot. Mine are 20 and 17. When I was 21 I had a harmless polyp removed/doc said it would never have been anything but harmless. I had some rectal bleeding which is what sent me to the GI in the first place. Went back in 5 years...nothing. Doc said, "See you in another five."...

Re: Tubular Adenomas?

I think your doctor should be telling you the results and discussing any questions you may have as opposed to a nurse reading off something she may not even understand and certainly can not answer your questions.

I wouldn't wait two years for another colonoscopy. Imo.

Re: "Why so serious"?

My best friend is battling ovarian. She's been "gutted like a fish" as she puts it. Seriously, I doubt there's anything left they can take from her. Her daughters bday was last month so she suggested they fill her with candy and use her as a piñata!

She's got a great spirit.

Re: Does it always turn?

That was a very big fear of mine and I would break down at random times early in my diagnosis. All the "what ifs" are torturous. The wait and the unknown are just the worse and everyone here has been there. They tested 30 of my lymph nodes-all negative and I was so hung up on that 31st nod...

I told my mom by not respecting my privacy she's not respecting me. She's been a little better...with all subjects, not just the Cancer thing. The crap she puts on FB tho  I tell her that her real life friends know enough of my business her FB friends don't need to know anything (I'm not nor e...

Re: Major Decision Affecting Family Weighing Heavily On My Mind

Hello sunny..I got a chuckle from 'dysfunction junction' :P I just want to share with you a little change in my thinking since my own diagnosis. I just figured that the only person I'm guaranteed forever with is myself. At the end of the day, I want to live happily with my own choices and decisions....

Re: Should I Push for More Frequent Colonoscopy?

Let me add...your oncologist should be in charge of your Cancer treatment and your gastro in charge of the frequency of your follow-up colonoscopies.

See your gastro with your colonoscopy concerns.
