Re: Oncologist visit

Judy, So glad to see your great cea number. Since it seems to be a strong marker for you I would not consider chemo. As far as the bloodwork, I had mine done a few weeks ago and platelets (and white cells I think) are still bad and my last chemo was early August. Onc said the radiation really affect...

Re: Reversal Questions

I was tender when moving for awhile but don't remember any sharp pain. And I did not have a drain after my reversal. Sonic is probably fine but wouldn't hurt to check with your surgeon. On the bright side that is great that you have control. I did not at all in the hospital. I think your reversal wi...

Re: Not sure why this happened

Oh Judy - I am so sorry that you can not catch a break during any step of this awful disease. I remember that the radiologist also had not read my surgeons instructions and didn't quite believe what I told him the dr wanted. But I definitely did not have that much pain. Thanks, Cathy. I've missed t...

Re: Reversal is scheduled

Judy - So glad you are moving forward! Post reversal life definitely has issues, but I think it is better than having the ostomy most days. (And by the end, unlike you, I had little to no issues dealing with the bag). I agree that having another surgery stinks but hopefully it is your last! As far a...

Re: New to board

Mike, I can definitely relate to your situation. My cancer was a little more advanced than yours but still stage 1. I was all set to have lar surgery, went for a second opinion just to be sure and they said oh no, you need chemoradiation first because your tumor is so low that you would otherwise ne...

Re: NEWLY DIAGNOSED STAGE 3-C COLON CANCER

Not sure but I am guessing that the antiviral drugs are some sort of immunotherapy which would be a available to you if the cancer were to come back and spread. Hopefully you won't need that, but good to know you would have options. It sounds like a second opinion would be good as you need to be com...

Re: Moonshot to cure cancer

I am all for more funding and improving communication between different groups working on cancer initiatives. I was reading recently about the blood tests they are developing to screen for cancer initially and for recurrence. Those sound great! However the "joe Biden is going to lead the wY to ...

Re: What to ask the surgeon re: post reversal issues

Saw the surgeon. Most importantly no sign of recurrence, so that is good. He was shocked when I told him I am usually in the bathroom over 10 times a day (and sometimes much more) and am having accidents. He gave me a prescription for something stronger than immodium (I think he said lotomil, haven'...
