Re: Still losing weight and hair

I went to the ER yesterday for continuing shortness of breath. The ER doctor did a thyroid blood test which showed I have hyperthyroidism. He said hyperthyroidism could be the reason I am losing weight, losing hair, and that I'm short of breath all of the time. He said to stop taking synthroid(I hav...

Re: Worried about my results taking time.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time.*hugs* I hope you get your results soon. I would let your doctor know how you're feeling. I hope you feel better soon and get answers.

Re: Still losing weight and hair

Thanks. My family doctor is calling sometime today. I'm going to ask her to slow down the prednisone taper. You're right that it's unlikely to be covid.

Re: Still losing weight and hair

I've been dealing with a really bad asthma flare since January 11th. I was on two 5 day prednisone bursts which didn't help. The shortness of breath and congestion kept getting worse. I went to the ER Saturday. Chest x-ray, ekg, and blood tests were normal. My family doctor called in a longer predni...

Re: Bowel issues worried about colon cancer?

I agree with Green Teat that i would be good to see a GI in order to schedule a colonoscopy so you can find out what's going on. Good luck.*hugs*

Re: Still losing weight and hair

Thank you Green Tea. I have been on prednisone in the past for my asthma I had to start taking prednisone on Saturday. 50mg a day for 5 days. Today is my last day of prednisone.I know it has side effects but I don't have a choice but to take it. My doctors won't prescribe medication for my nebulizer...

Re: Still losing weight and hair

Thank you Green Tea. I haven't received a call from the dietician. Usually my family doctor refers me to someone local. Thank you for the reading material and the recommendation. I'm still waiting for my endocrinologist to call. My asthma is flaring up. I have prednisone in the house in case I need ...

Re: Still losing weight and hair

My endocrinologist checked my vitamin D, PTH and calcium a few months ago. He usually checks them every couple of months. Because it's been longer since I talked to him they haven't been checked. My family doctor and endocrinologist don't check T3 and T4. They only check TSH. My family doctor doesn'...

Re: Still losing weight and hair

Thank you Gravelyguy. My GI isn't taking me seriously at all! I emailed his office and found out he won't see me until April 7th! He never takes me seriously and always makes me wait months to see him. Then when I do have an appointment he's still no help! I can't change doctors as there is a doctor...

Re: Still losing weight and hair

My family doctor said all of the blood tests she ran were normal. She's referring me to a dietician. She said a dietician may be helpful. I guess it can't hurt to talk to a dietician but it doesn't treat the underlying cause. We agree that my hyperparathyroidism is most likely causing my weight loss...

Still losing weight and hair

I'm going to try to eat either a bowl of oatmeal or cereal or some toast at lunch instead of the liquids I have been doing for a long time. I hope my stomach will behave. I'm still losing crazy amounts of weight, still get cold sweats and my hair is very thin because it's falling out even more. Some...
