Greetings After Six NED Years

There was never enough good news when I was enduring surgeries and FOLFOX so I thought I'd drop by and say hello! My fight was strengthened here in this forum where I learned I wasn't alone. I wasn't much of a poster, mostly a reader, butt still I met survivors and caregivers who knew what I was goi...

Congratulations! Good to hear you made it through surgery. How long until you know that it was successful?

Re: 0 of 42 nodes

42 nodes got tested, and 0 showed up positive. What if number 43 was positive, and it wasn't included? This raises a question for me about "margins". Following a resection, my understanding is that a laboratory doctor uses a microscope to individually look at each lymph node in the remove...

Same here - the kit looked like a hazmat outfit. Fortunately never needed it. Even got a credit when I returned the sealed kit unused.

Re: Finally home from crc stage 3 surgery

Just a note of best wishes to you. Hopefully the surgical challenges will be addressed soon and you can settle down to heal. Note that you may be on a very long road. Don't let it catch you by surprise. Deal with the ugly stuff when you have to, and enjoy the good stuff whenever you can. To a long a...

Re: 5 years and semi clear scan

BIG congratulations to you! FIVE years! I sincerely hope you are able to deal with the anger and depression. Help is available, including here (in a more casual sense). It would be shameful to beat this horrific disease (which you have!) and then live with anger and depression. You have scars and bu...

Re: How do you pull yourself out of the dark?

Natalie, There is only ONE of you in the entire known universe. To your two "little ones" you ARE the universe. Seems exciting and joyful to have all that on your side. These days you are tasked with being all the things you choose to be: mother, wife, lover, teacher and more - and you hav...

Chief Information Officer with MBA degree. Not very useful for the purpose of this thread. All is not lost, though. I am capable of consuming large amounts of barbecue in open air environments! :D

Re: Can Any Good Come Out of Having Cancer

Putting a small twist on the original question gives us this: What would be lost if cancer did not exist? If there were some good in cancer then we would surely miss that goodness if cancer did not exist. I can't think of anything good pertaining to cancer that I would miss. Let's continue to move f...
