Lynch?

I had stage 3c colon cancer in 2008 and I was a semi-frequent poster here. A few years after my diagnosis, I had genetic testing done and there was no sign of Lynch syndrome or any other known genetic abnormality. Last week I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and I just met with the gyn oncologi...

Also, what a coincidence that I logged in today and saw this post! I don't often log in anymore. I'm so glad I did.

Re: Signet Ring Cell Survivor Update

Becky! You made me tear up, which seldom happens. I'm so glad you are doing well!

Also, I’ve still never had a recurrence and I’m eleven years out.

Re: Why do I torture myself? Signet Ring Cell Sigmoid Colon

I did the same thing! Over and over again...I felt like I couldn't stop! It is so hard. I had a similar diagnosis: signet ring, stage 3c, 14 of 18 nodes affected. I recall my oncologist saying that if I made it to two years without a recurrence, she would feel much more optimistic. It's now been ove...

Re: Happy 14 year cancerversary to me

Thank you for sharing your story. After I was diagnosed, over ten years now, your story gave me hope. You make me want to write out my own story and share it.

Congratulations!

Re: Hormone Replacement Therapy

Hi, My understanding is that HRT can be slightly protective against colon cancer, and while it can cause breast cancer, the risk is minimized if you stop treatment within five years. I had both ovaries removed in 2009 because of suspicious looking cysts that turned out not to be cancerous and I was ...

Ten years and I missed it!

Hi everybody, Yesterday marks ten years since I was first diagnosed with cancer on May, 8th 2008. How did I miss that?! I had surgery on May 15th 2008, followed by six months of FOLFOX chemo. I've been incredibly fortunate to still be here and to have never had a recurrence. Sometimes I ask the &quo...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

I'm coming up on ten years. I was diagnosed on May 8th, 2008 and had surgery on May 15th 2008, followed by six months of chemo. I was stage 3c with fourteen positive lymph nodes and a particularly aggressive type of cancer (signet ring cell). I've never had a recurrence! I've had my ups and downs, b...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

Hi jsw,

I still get cea tests every six months, but I haven't had scans in a while. I think I'll be stopping my oncology visits and just follow up with my GP after it's officially been ten years.

Re: I'm honored to be here with you

Congratulations on ten years! I am at 9.5 years myself. I was just remembering today how I felt at Thanksgiving dinner nine years ago, right after my twelfth round of chemo. Ugh. I think it's great for those with lots of NED time to come in and offer wisdom and support. I haven't been around at all ...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

Hi--I had stage IIIC signet ring colon cancer with fourteen positive lymph notes. I was diagnosed in May 2008 and had my last treatment just before Thanksgiving that year, so 9 or 9.5 years, depending on how you want to count. I still remember how lousy I felt physically that Thanksgiving. Ugh. I fe...
