Re: How safe is Coffee?

I think I read they recently lifted that label requirement from Starbucks stores, after deciding that the risk was minimal due to the relatively low amounts of the acrylamides found in coffee (although certain brands contain more than others). But since it still poses some degree of risk I was just ...

Re: How safe is Coffee?

Thanks for your replies. Just curious since acrylamide is supposed to be a carcinogen. They were required to put up warnings about it at Starbucks in California until it was recently determined that it was such a low dose that it would have minimal impact.

How safe is Coffee?

I've heard oncologists and primary care physicians say coffee is fine, but everything in moderation, of course. But with studies showing that there is *some* risk of cancer with coffee due to low levels of Acrylamide, even if a lot less than those found in other things like potato chips or what not,...

Re: Tooth pain-need to see dentist. Will this impact Immunotherapy (Keytruda)?

Thanks for your replies. That's makes things kind of tricky, if there's a tooth pain and just having started immunotherapy (Keytruda) for just the 3rd infusion so far (one every 3 weeks). And what if the immunotherapy is hopefully effective and is to continue, there will be no good point to go to th...

Tooth pain-need to see dentist. Will this impact Immunotherapy (Keytruda)?

If you experience tooth pain and need to see the dentist and possibly get a bad tooth removed, for example, will this impact Immunotherapy (Keytruda) in any ways?

Immunotherapy and high triglyceride level

Has anyone here gotten blood work done ahead of their first or subsequent immunotherapy infusion appointments and been told that their triglyceride level was too high to proceed with the infusion? Just got blood work back a day ago and the infusion department called and said the triglyceride level w...

Re: I declined Oxaliplatin

Thank you for this. My mom is 75 and I worry about her handling the Oxi and am also starting to question the benefit of it for a person of her age vs the potential side effects and subsequent decline in quality of life. Also just found out her tumor is MSI so genetic testing is next. It’s my unders...

Re: Switching back to Pembro

Henry: I have no specific data but antidotally, my oncologist (the one prescribing the Keytruda) stated that if after 2 years on Keytruda I had any potential cancer evident in my body (via CT scan or via CEA) he suggested, based on past experience that we maintain the course and continue treatment ...

Re: Adjuvant immunotherapy

I really wish that cancer treatments such as immunotherapies would be granted to all viable candidates, especially since it gives a relatively good chance of response and durability. It's a shame that cancer patients who already have enough to worry about would also have to worry about footing the b...

Re: Adjuvant immunotherapy

Thank you everyone. Such great stories! I was just months from being treated with immunotherapy in the first line setting... But, I’m so greatful for being NED. Just wish I could have immunotherapy now, not wait for it to show up again... Are you still on folfox or stopped at 5 cycles? i sometimes ...

Re: Adjuvant immunotherapy

I think it was about 18 months of treatment before the colitis began. It was treated successfully with prednisone. Although I still have lights bouts of it kinda daily, nothing that stops me! It is not why I stopped. I hit the 2 year mark and had a clean PET and CT scan. It took almost 2 years thou...

Re: Adjuvant immunotherapy

I am MSI-H as well. Did FOLFOX + Erbitux as well as FOLFIRI as adjuvant chemo after surgeries. Had recurrences after both. After that I was put on Keytruda and I am about to hit my 2 year mark on the drug. I have been NED for almost the whole time on immunotherapy. I know it’s useless to think abou...

Re: Immunotherapy Questions

That is good news that she got a response and the tumor completely resolved. It's probably a good idea in that it probably killed things that couldn't be caught in scans or detected also. I was curious though if other immunotherapy options were on the table and discussed by the oncologist, such as O...
