Re: Hospice Interviews: Beginning the end of my journey

Nice list. I never thought about the disability question. Good to know. When I interviewed them I asked a lot about who decides who visits me or them. I was told that if I only wanted the rn and no social workers, aides or volunteers to babysit me that is what they would do. I also asked about my ho...

Re: How to cope with an "affair" when terminally ill (sorry, it's long)

Go with your gut. If you feel neither crossed the line then they most likely did not. If this had been a amle colleague that he was confiding in for support would you be feeling this way? You mentioned that he is somewhat of a loner, maybe this person was the only one he felt close enough to to conf...

Re: Oxaliplaton reaction

There is work being done to change the number of recommended folfox from 12 to 8 or less. The benefit of the oxy sharly declines after 6 rounds. My situation is different as I have not and never will get to NED but I so wish my oncologist would have stopped at six. Instead I will live out the last o...

Re: 6300mg Xeloda/day???

I take that back I misread. Usually it is 6 500 mg per day not twice a day. I would definitely double check with your oncologist something is wrong here.

Re: It's been verified!

So sorry to hear this. Cancer just plain sucks times two. Have somebody take a look at the chigger bites just seems early in the year for them but I suppose that depends how far south you are. If it is shingles you will want to get a jump on it fast. Warm hugs.

Re: 6300mg Xeloda/day???

Check your math. 6 500 mg is 3000 and two 150 mg is 300 I come up with 3300 which is a fairly mainstream dose depending on your size. I was on 3000 without you n problems.

Re: To each his own: Your personal neuropathy experience

My symptoms vary as the day goes on. In the morning my feet feel numb and tingling particularly at the base of the toes. When I walk it feels like I am walking over gravel. As the day continues it creeps up farther on my legs and stops at just above my knees. By evening it is either a burning pain l...

Re: Ewwww more sticky poo...

Please don't go behind his back and call. I personally would be so ticked if my husband did that regardless of his good intentions. It is not unusual after cold n surgery to have bouts where GI gets out of whack. Try small frequent meals which is less stressful on the system. When I feel out of whac...

Words cannot convey how sorry I am to hear this. There is nothing that prepares us for hearing this news. I know I felt every emotion in the book and still have not come to grips with it. Feel free to vent and share as you feel able. I do think we need to as a group be more open to those of us who a...

Re: Neuropathy blues

The only way to avoid neuropathy is to stop the oxaliplatin. The new recommendations are to stop at round six. I would definitely mention it to his doc. However from your description it might be HFS which feels more like burning in your feet whereas neuropathy is numbness and tingling. If it is hand...

Re: Well, shoot, shucks golly gee RANT

Glad their doctors are keeping a close eye on them. So wish they would figure out the genetics of this. I'm the third generation of women who have been diagnosed with cancer with two years of starting menopause. Three different types but there has to be a link in my opinion. Makes me worry about me ...

You are only allowed 512 characters. Just ran into it myself earlier today. I had to abbreviate and remove until I got mine under the limit. Not t a dumb question at all. It does seem like some people have lots in their signatures.

Re: Port is out

CONGRATS. Must feel awesome to get it out. Hope it solves the arm pain. Anybody know if there would be a reason to keep a port if you have no intention of doing chemo ever again? Is it a benefit while under hospice care? Just curious if it would be worth getting mine out. It is just so darn obvious ...

Cymbalta-duloxetine for neuropathy

I've been doing a lot of research and found that some have had success with cymbalta for cipher. Has anyone here tried it and if so what have your experiences been. I've tried gabapentin, lyrica and amitryptalin with no success at all.
